An Eighties Slasher Set During The Satanic Panic To Debut In October

An Eighties Slasher set during the Satanic Panic to debut in October by Matt Miner and Clayton McCormack from Mad Cave Studios…

    Article Summary

    • Mad Cave Studios launches Satanic Panic #1 in October 2026, an eighties slasher comic timed for Halloween.
    • Satanic Panic blends masked-killer horror with 1980s moral hysteria over Dungeons & Dragons and heavy metal.
    • Three misfit teens become murder suspects and must clear their names before fear and paranoia claim more victims.
    • Matt Miner and Clayton McCormack lead the new Satanic Panic series, with art, colors, letters, and covers revealed.

Matt Miner and Clayton McCormack are launching a new horror comic book series, Satanic Panic, from Mad Cave Studios in October 2026 in time for Hallowe’en, that looks back at the eighties fear of Dungeons and Dragons, asking what happens when fear itself becomes the most dangerous monster in town? And that aims to blends classic slasher terror with the most hysterical media frenzy of the 1980s. With colours by Oliver Mertz, letters by Matt Krotzer, and covers by Clayton McCormack and Justin Coffee, Satanic Panic pitches itself as a blood-soaked mystery where paranoia spreads faster than the body count.

    Satanic Panic #1

“A sleepy 1980s town is stalked by a masked slasher at the height of the Satanic Panic, where every heavy metal record, Dungeons & Dragons campaign, and teenage outsider is treated as evidence of devil worship. As fear spreads and bodies pile up, three local misfits become the prime suspects in a series of gruesome murders. Join D&D geeks and Ozzy enthusiasts Naz, Sal, and Terry as they race to clear their names, survive an increasingly blood-soaked town, and unmask the real killer before paranoia claims more innocent lives. But in a community eager to blame the weird kids, proving their innocence may be deadlier than facing the murderer. A brutal new horror series blending slasher terror with the paranoia of the “Satanic Panic,” the Satanic Panic series channels the era when moral hysteria transformed outsiders into scapegoats. Beneath its masked killer lies a timely story about fear, conformity, and the devastating consequences of believing the loudest voices over the truth.”

“Growing up, my mom was caught up in the religious hysteria centered around heavy metal and D&D, she burned my Ozzy tapes, my gaming stuff, all of it – so it’s nice to tell a story highlighting just how stupid that all was.” —Matt Miner. Satanic Panic #1 goes on sale October 28th, 2026, and Mad Cave Studios is at Booth #2806 in San Diego Comic-Con right now.
