This Week on Hulu and Disney+: PCMag’s Picks
100 Nights of Hero (September 18, Hulu)
If you like quirky fantasy films that don’t feel like anything else, check it 2025’s 100 Nights of Hero. Set in a world where patriarchy is absolute, young Cherry is given 100 days to become pregnant or be put to death. When a lecherous older man makes a bet that he can seduce her, only her loyal maid Hero can stymie his affections. Needless to say, things escalate from there. It’s a compelling fable about resistance and true love.

The Last Whale Singer (September 24, Hulu)
Whales are fascinating creatures, more like humans than we might want to admit. Writer-director Reza Memari was inspired by humpback whale documentaries to create The Last Whale Singer, an animated tale that follows young humpback Vincent, who must overcome his own self-doubt to save the oceans from the threat of the monstrous Lefor kids that gets its message across without being preachy

American Horror Story: 13 (September 24, Hulu)
Ryan Murphy’s often bizarre American Horror Story walks an unsteady line between creepy and camp, and even when it flops, it still delivers at least one unforgettable scene a season. For its lucky 13th outing, we’ve got the return of many of Murphy’s favorite actors, including series mainstays Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, for what’s being described as an “Avengers-style crossover” between the dozen seasons that have come before. Could be great, will probably be a mess, will definitely be fun.
