Onyx Prime is the eighth member of the 13 members created by Primus and was created to serve as a warrior to fight Primus’ children and unicorns. Onyx Prime transforms from a bipedal robot mode to a winged centaur to a more traditional quadrupedal dragon.

Onyx Prime is packaged in the line’s standard Leader Class window box with artwork, logos, and images on all sides, and the back includes what he looks like in both modes. Includes instructions to transform him.

Onyx Prime is a beastly figure with four different options to transform according to the instructions. He is given a unique design with spikes, horns, and angular Cybertronian angles, referencing eagles, horses, gargoyles or dragons. Both robot and beast modes include wings, body color is mostly light brown with some dark brown, black, silver, and gold, and both modes have red eyes.

The head sculpt is also great, and the eagle mask that appears when you pull the top down is a nice touch.
In robot mode, his articulation includes a ball-jointed head and neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel wrists, hinged fingers, swivel hips, swivel-hinged hips, hinged knees, hinged ankles, swivel-hinged wings, and upper rotor wings.

In this mode, the bow also becomes a tail and can be placed on your back.

The centaur mode includes two additional horse hooves on the shoulders, and the instructions provide details on how to wrap them and place them in front in this way. This mode adds two more legs, which can be lifted for posing, giving it a more fearless look.

His triptych mask is replaced with a spearhead, and he also comes with a bow, and the spearhead can be used as an arrow. The bow should be inserted in front of the fingers of either hand, but it is best to use the right hand so that the bow points in the correct direction. The arrow is inserted into the bow and there is a slot that is inserted into the hand. The spear point/arrow is connected to a brown pole that he can hold.

Here we take a closer look at the eagle mask that pulls down over the robot’s face.

The dragon/centaur mode looks just as menacing, with wings that can be raised and lowered, and a sculpted head that includes a hinged jaw, horns, and glaring red eyes.
In this mode, his articulation includes a ball-jointed head, a hinged neck, swivel-hinged hips (x4 or x6 depending on whether he has a horse hoof as the middle leg), swivel thighs (x4), swivel-hinged front knees, hinged back knees, double-hinged middle horse knees, swivel-hinged front ankles (robot mode hands), swivel rear ankles, hinged middle horse hooves, swivel-hinged wings, and upper rotor wings.

This is the dragon/centaur mode with the central horse’s knees removed. In this mode, a spear tip and a black rod are placed on its back and used as a tail.
Overall, Onyx Prime is a great figure with an interesting design and transformation. He is one of the 13 Primes, making him a great addition to your Transformers collection. 13 Prime has never been offered like this before, so this is something new and something Hasbro has never touched in the past.
