Adam Driver is shutting the door on playing Kylo Ren in the Star Warsuniverse, and he isn’t leaving room for a comeback.
On a new episode of The Rich Eisen Show, Driver said he’s finished with the famously conflictedcharacter, saying, “Yeah. It’s over. “No more Star Wars.”
He also brought up the movie that never got made: “We tried to do one more. But they were like, ‘No, he’s dead.'”
That project was The Hunt for Ben Solo, a pitched standalone movie that would have followed Ben Solo after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, in which Driver’s character dies after a battle with Emperor Palpatine. Driver developed the film with Steven Soderbergh, who was attached to direct.
Driver said the work on the film went on for a long time without any payoff.
“We worked on it for a few years, really and earnestly for two years. We got a script together that was really good with Scott Burns and Rebecca Blunt and Soderbergh and I, and we all worked on it,” he said. “It was really cool, but I don’t get to decide.”
Driver has said Lucasfilm loved the idea. Disney’s top executives didn’t, since Ben Solo dies at the end of The Rise of Skywalker.
“We took it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman, and they said no,” he explained. “They didn’t see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that.”
Driver first went public with the project in an Oct. 2025 interview with the Associated Press. Though he was excited about the film, he’s now blunt about the reality that it’s not going to see the light of day.
“Look, if it was gonna happen, it would have happened. It’s that simple,” he reasoned.
Though Star Warsis out of Driver’s life at the moment, he’s got other projects coming out reallysoon. One of them is Paper Tiger, co-starring Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller, which opens in theaters on Nov. 13.
