A major piece of comic history is making the leap into mainline Earth-616 continuity.
With the release of cover reveals for October’s Avengers: Armageddon #4, Marvel Comics has confirmed that David Colton—the post-9/11 super-soldier introduced during Chip Zdarsky’s Captain America run—is officially stepping forward as the 616 Earth’s new Miracleman, if not Marvelman.

Introduced as the U.S. government-sponsored Captain America who served overseas while Steve Rogers was still encased in ice, David Colton’s journey has been defined by duty, military structure trauma. He’s had an increasingly integral role in the mainline continuity over the past year.
Speaking on Colton’s evolving role alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, writer Zdarsky said:
“Anyone reading Captain America knows his origins are filled with tragedy and bloodshed… He’s used to the Army and its structure and rank system. So his greatest foil may just be the fact that these are, for the most part, civilians with superpowers that he’s working with.”
His transformation into Marvelmancomes60 (The Maker’s Ultimate Universe) brought across dimensions by Miles Morales. The box, designed by The Maker to <a href="https://comicvibe.com/10-best-tv-shows-about-pirates-ranked/” title=”10 Best TV Shows About Pirates, Ranked”>bestow godlike capabilities, unlocks an extraordinary suite of abilities including flight, speed, invulnerability, and cosmic-level strength

Originally created in 1954 by Mick Anglo and later reimagined in the 1980s by Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman, Marvelman has spent decades cordoned off from the shared universe due to complex publishing rights.

While Marvel teased the character’s presence in 2021’s Timeless #1, Avengers: Armageddon marks the first time the character’s iconic powers have been formally woven into the modern, ongoing Earth-616 narrative.
