With Halo now on PlayStation, Killscreen launches Duke Prime CWE — a transparent green custom PS5 controller that deliberately crosses console-war lines with classic colored ABXY controls and competition-focused upgrades.
LARGO, Fla., Aug. 31, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Killscreen today announced Duke Prime CWE, a new PS5 controller built for one of the strangest moments in modern gaming: Halo on PlayStation.
With Halo now on PlayStation 5, the old lines have gotten blurry.
Killscreen decided to make them worse.
Duke Prime CWE — short for Console War Edition — takes unmistakable Xbox-era visual language and rebuilds it on a PlayStation 5 controller. A transparent green shell, black controls and classic color-coded ABXY face buttons turn the familiar DualSense platform into something that feels immediately out of place.
The result is deliberately wrong.
And that is 100% the point.
“Watching Halo cross onto PlayStation was cool, but also weird and awkward,” said Erik Consorsha, co-founder of Killscreen. “Being weird comes easy to us, so naturally we had to commemorate the moment.”
The original Halo: Combat Evolved helped define the first Xbox in 2001. Twenty-five years later, Halo has crossed onto PlayStation, bringing one of gaming’s most iconic platform identities into territory that once would have seemed impossible.
Duke Prime CWE was created for that collision.
Its transparent fluorescent-green body exposes the internal architecture of the DualSense beneath it, while the green, red, blue and yellow face-button treatment introduces an intentionally foreign visual language to the PlayStation platform.
At a glance, something is clearly off.
Look closer and it gets worse.
For Killscreen, that kind of hardware crossover is familiar territory. The company has built a reputation around reinterpreting iconic controller eras through its custom PS5 controllers — from the GameCube-inspired CubeSense and translucent Funtastic Ice Blue to the Xbox 360-inspired 360X and the 16-bit SFC-1.
Killscreen was also responsible for bringing clear-controller design back to PlayStation during the ninth console generation, reintroducing transparent hardware in iconic colors such as Lemon Yellow, Crimson Red and Emerald Green. What started as a design obsession became a recurring part of the company’s identity.
Each one starts with a DualSense and deliberately pushes it somewhere it was probably never supposed to go.
Killscreen has spent years turning the cursed PS5 controller into a category of its own: hardware that looks familiar enough to recognize immediately and wrong enough to demand a second look.
Duke Prime CWE pushes that idea directly into the middle of the console-war conversation.
The controller retains native PS5 functionality while giving players a hardware design built around the crossover itself: PlayStation hardware carrying visual DNA longtime players immediately associate with Xbox.
Duke Prime CWE can also be configured with Killscreen performance upgrades for players who want more than the visual crossover.
Key features and available upgrades include:
- TMR magnetic thumbsticks for high-resolution input and resistance to conventional stick drift
- Mouse-click triggers and bumpers for shorter, faster actuation
- Mouse-click face controls for a more immediate button response
- Killscreen Performance Grip
- Interchangeable thumbsticks with multiple height and shape options
Each controller is built and tested by Killscreen in Florida.
“I was a child of the original console war, Nintendo and Sega,” Consorsha said. “You couldn’t live through the ’80s and ’90s and not feel its impact. It was a significant part of the culture. Now Halo is on PlayStation, so why not fan the flames? We don’t want gaming to get boring. Console wars are fun.”
Duke Prime CWE is simply the latest result of Killscreen refusing to leave well enough alone.
This time, the crime scene is fluorescent green.
And the console war has a new weapon.
