Phillies vs. Royals: The matchup
The Royals snapped a four-game losing skid on Saturday and evened the series with the Phillies at a game apiece with a 5-2 victory. Pitcher Luinder Avila out-dueled Phillies starter Aaron Nola with one run allowed on three hits over five innings, and catcher Salvador Perez drove in two key insurance runs late to help the Royals improve to 36-54 on the season. The Phils fell to 50-40 overall and 25-19 on the road going into Monday afternoon’s series finale

Philadelphia is a solid betting favorite (-175) for Monday’s tilt behind ace left-hander Cristopher Sanchez (10-3, 2.00 ERA), who ranks among the top three in Major League Baseball in wins, ERA, and strikeouts (136). Opposing him will be Royals lefty Noah Cameron (4-6, 4.95 ERA), who has given up four-plus runs in four straight outings
