The star that will be temporarily replacing Simon Cowell as a judge on America’s Got Talent has been revealed.
If you didn’t see the news, it was revealed earlier this week that the 66-year-old TV personality is taking a few weeks off from the NBC talent competition series as he recovers from a“routine procedure related to his back.”
AmidSimon‘s hiatus from the show, it has now been announced that Kenan Thompson will be stepping in to temporarily replace Simon on the judge’s panel.
“A comedy legend is taking over the Judges’ table! Kenan Thompson is joining AGT as a guest Judge! Don’t miss his guest appearance Tuesday, September 1 at 8/7c on @NBC,” the official America’s Got TalentInstagram account wrote on Friday, August 28.

Kenan will be joining fellow judges Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, and Mel B along with host Terry Crews.
During the Quarterfinals Round 2 episode that aired on Wednesday, August 26, Terry addressed Simon‘s absence.
“He’s having an operation that cannot be postponed. It’s not an emergency, but it can’t be put off,” Terry explained. “Simon, we are sending you our very best wishes for speedy recovery, and we’re looking forward to seeing you back at the Judges desk very soon.”
New episodes ofAmerica’s Got Talent air on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 8/7c on NBC and are available for streaming the next day on Peacock.
