The Witcher 3 Remastered sets new/higher PC hardware requirements

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is getting new/higher PC system requirements

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is coming to PC on September 29th, and it will bring higher hardware requirements. Graphical upgrades aren’t free, and gamers will need higher-end hardware to max out The Witcher 3’s new PC version. Once The Witcher 3 Remastered launches, the game will have new/higher PC system requirements and will move from being DirectX 11/12 to being DirectX 12 only.

CD Projekt Red’s new The Witcher 3 Remaster will arrive with updated textures, refined animations, improved gameplay systems, and more. Visually, gamers will see improved Witcher sign effects, new foliage shaders, HDR improvements, lighting improvements, and ray tracing improvements. On PC, the game will also add a new path tracing mode.

This upgrade will make The Witcher 3 more demanding. That said, the game’s minimum and recommended PC system requirements remain low by today’s standards. The game’s minimum CPU moves from Intel’s 4-core i5-2500K to a six-core i5-8400. The game’s minimum RAM requirement has changed from 6GB to 12GB, and the game’s minimum VRAM requirement has moved from 2GB to 6GB.

Note that The Witcher 3’s storage requirements are also increasing from 50GB to 70GB. Additionally, SSD storage is now recommended.

    Higher-end GPUs required

GPU-wise, The Witcher 3 Remastered sets Nvidia’s GTX 1660 and AMD’s RX 5500 XT as the game’s minimum supported graphics cards. Note that these are some of the lowest-end GPUs that still receive driver support from AMD and Nvidia. The game’s recommended GPUs are Nvidia’s RTX 2060 SUPER, AMD’s RX 6600 XT, and Intel’s RC B580. While resolution and framerate targets are not listed, these GPUs are expected to target 1080p 60 FPS. Higher-end GPUs will be needed for higher resolution gameplay.

If you have a relatively up-to-date PC, you should be able to play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered. Nvidia’s RTX 2060 SUPER is a mid-range GPU from 2019. That should mean that all modern gaming PCs should be able to run this remaster with ease.
