Museums have always been a fascinating place to visit. But this fall, the Brooklyn Museum decided to set itself apart by presenting an eclectic program of exhibitions and installations. Time-out tells in more detail.

Visitors can expect manga, European modernism, haute couture, Japanese art, and large-scale installations.

Manga will occupy the Great Hall

The main event The exhibition “The Art of Manga” will be held from October 3 to January 31, 2027, marking its debut on the East Coast.

The exhibition will be housed in the museum’s Great Hall and will feature a vast collection of original works related to series such as Inuyasha, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Ooku: The Inner Chambers, and One Piece.

But one manga exhibition, apparently, was not enough.

The Great Hall will also host the exhibition “Manga Before Manga: Japanese Art from the Collection.” It will run from October 3 to January 31, 2027, and will explore the historical origins of this art form.

    From Cézanne to Modigliani

To those who prefers Cézanne to the Straw Hat Pirates, the museum will offer the exhibition “From Cézanne to Modigliani: Gifts of Modern Art from the Pearlman Collection.”

It will run from October 2 to April 18, 2027.

On the subject: The Best September Festivals in New York: Food, Music, Books, and Family Fun

The exhibition will feature more than 50 European masterpieces.

The exhibition will be both a concentrated dose of modernism and, likely, the occasion for the appearance of new souvenir products in the museum shop.

Hopi Art and the Memory of the Artist

The Hopi Kachina Dolls: Blessings for a Harmonious World exhibit will run from October 2, 2026, to June 27, 2027.

She examines the kachina doll-making tradition through the eyes of Hopi girls and women.

The installation “Michael Richards: Free F’All” will be on display in the museum’s lobby from September 11 to June 6, 2027.

It is dedicated to the history of the Tuskegee Airmen and to the artist Michael Richards himself, who died on September 11, 2001.

The installation connects Richards’s work to this story. It will provide a more serious contrast to the other, more vibrant and festive projects of the fall season.

    High fashion and Japanese photography

The exhibition “Iris van Herpen: Sculpture of Feelings” continues to run at the museum until December 6.

It is dedicated to the revolutionary designer, whose works exist somewhere on the border between high fashion, sculpture and an unusually elegant scientific experiment.

In October, the Toby Devan Lewis Education Center will open the exhibition “Mika Ninagawa: Feel the Flow of Flowers.”

She will present the vibrant photographic practice of renowned Japanese artist Miki Ninagawa.

The Brooklyn Museum’s fall program promises to be a unique adventure in which everyone can choose their own direction.

Manga, modernism, high fashion and contemporary art will be presented in one season.

Rarely has a museum visit been so appealing on so many different levels. More information about the programs can be found here. here.
