Hamilton West Side Little League is preparing for its third game in three days.
The Ohio and Great Lakes champions play Southeast champion Alabama in the Little League World Series elimination bracket semifinals on Wednesday, Aug. 26. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. first pitch.
The Enquirer will have live coverage of Hamilton West Side vs. Alabama later today, with coverage beginning at 5:30 p.m. The World Series elimination matchup between the Great Lakes and Southeast will also air on ESPN at 7 p.m.

Ohio is playing its fourth game of the tournament. After weather postponed their start to Friday morning, West Side suffered a heartbreaking 6-5 walk-off loss against Nevada on Aug. 21. The kids from Hamilton quickly bounced back the next day in the Elimination Bracket, knocking out Massachusetts with a 10-0 run rule win in four innings. Last night, West Side used a five-run fourth inning and four shutout innings from Boone Treadway to beat New Jersey, 5-2.
Alabama has been one of the biggest stories of the tournament this season. Star pitcher/shortstop Kinley Rasmus has captured national attention as she’s set nearly every girls record in the Little League World Series. Her five hits are a girls record in the tournament, and her 14 strikeouts tie her with Mo’ne Davis for most by a girls in LLWS history. Kinley is the daughter of ex-MLB pitcher Cory Rasmus and niece to former MLB outfielder Colby Rasmus.
The Phenix City, Alabama, team has taken a similar path to Hamilton’s West Side. After being knocked down to the Elimination Bracket by Washington in game one, Alabama has won three straight elimination games.
Phenix City stunned California with a 12-2 win, then made a huge comeback from five runs down to beat Pennsylvania 6-5, and finally got revenge against Washington with a 2-0 win.
