ReacherSeason 4, Episode 5, Plot Explained
Following the ending of Episode 4, “Karambits and Pieces,” the audience learned that Lila Hoth (Agnez Mo,) and Amisha Hoth (Anggun) were not victims at all, but rather, merciless killers. At the top of Episode 5, Reacher doesn’t know this yet, which means, at some point he’ll have to face the fact that he was very, very wrong about Lila and her motivations.
This twist matches the plot of the 2009 Lee Child Reacher novelGone Tomorrow. In the book, the Hoths were also revealed to be knife-wielding baddies, playing innocent.
But, in the TV series, this revelation comes quite a bit sooner in the overall story than in the book. To put it another way, perhaps the biggest twist of the book has been revealed, meaning, the next half of the season is full of different mysteries, and different twists.
From this point forward, part of the central mystery of Reacher Season 4 has shifted from the true motivation of the Hoths, to a bigger question: What’s on the thumb drive? And why do so many different factions—including some shadow part of U.S. government—want this intel?
The result of all of these mysteries results in Episode 5 feeling a bit more like a Bond movie than any previous episode of Reacher before. Get ready for some great chase sequences, and blockbuster level stunts.
If you’re a fan of Reacher, this is the kind of episode you’ve been waiting for, and one of the most impressive in the series yet.
