TORONTO — Family entertainment company WildBrain Ltd. has acquired Personality AI, which uses technology to create interactive characters using generative AI.
Personality AI is the company behind an interactive Peppa Pig, developed with Hasbro that allows children to talk with the character.
The deal will see John Goscha, founder and CEO of Personality AI, join WildBrain’s executive team as executive vice-president of Personality AI.
Under the agreement, WildBrain is paying US$11 million in cash and one million WildBrain shares.
It has also agreed to pay an additional US$2 million on the first anniversary of the closing of the deal, payable in up to one million WildBrain shares with any balance in cash.
The agreement also includes performance-based cash payments up to a total of US$56 million tied to the Personality AI business achieving certain revenue targets in 2027, 2028 and 2029.
