A new Xbox report has potentially leaked a sequel to one of the best Xbox One exclusives. Unfortunately, for Xbox fans, there weren’t many great Xbox exclusives in the Xbox One generation, as Xbox Game Studios struggled alongside the brand as a whole. A stark contrast to the Xbox 360 generation, where Xbox was at the peak of its power. In the Xbox Series X generation, the struggles have continued, but there has certainly been improvement from the Xbox One generation.

One of the few highlights from Xbox Game Studios between 2013 and 2020 was Moon Studios’ Ori and the Blind Forest in 2015. Another rare highlight for Xbox Game Studios was its 2020 sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Both were some of the best games of their respective years, as evidenced by their respective 88 and 90 on Metacritic. Both sold appreciably as well, especially in relation to their more modest budgets. Yet, it’s been six years, and there’s still no word of a third game. And there’s a reason for this. Moon Studios doesn’t want to make one. It’s not up to the studio if a third game is made, though, because it doesn’t own the IP. Xbox does. And according to a new report, it’s doing something with it, without Moon Studios.
An Unlikely Developer
According to a brand new report, there is a new Origame in development, and it’s in development at Saber Interactive, a massive studio that does all different types of games. To date, it is best known for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, World War Z, SnowRunner, andInsurgency: Sandstorm. They have also done many high-profile ports, including The Witcher 3’s Nintendo Switch port and co-developed Halo: The Master Chief Collection. And they have also done remasters and remakes, like Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered, and Crysts Remastered. Meanwhile, some of their upcoming work includes a John Wick game, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, Turok: Origins, and Jurassic Park: Survival.
They have a pretty good reputation, employ over 1,000 developers, work on a variety of genres, and are getting bigger and bigger projects. All of this is to say, while they aren’t the first name that would come to mind when picking a developer for Ori 3, they aren’t a bad pick.
As for the report, it comes from a Reset Era insider who goes by Kiri_Kis557. They aren’t a well-known or prolific source, but they also aren’t a random source. According to the insider, an announcement was being prepared for this fall at the Fall dev_direct, but a teaser may end up at Gamescom later this month. In other words, the game is going to be announced soon. There is no word on whether it will be exclusive or not. The first two games were notably exclusive to Xbox at first, but years later did notably come to Nintendo Switch. All of that said, take all of this with a grain of salt. Nothing here is official information.
Speaking of Xbox exclusives, an Xbox exclusive from the Xbox One era that fans have been waiting 12 years for resurfaced this weekend with a promising new update. Spoilers: the game in question is The Last Night.
