Megastar Chiranjeevi has unveiled the title and first glimpse of his much-awaited next film, Kaaka, on the occasion of his birthday. Directed by Bobby Kolli, the Telugu film was previously referred to as Mega158. The makers have also locked January 13, 2027, as its theatrical release date, coinciding with the Sankranthi festive season.
Chiranjeevi gives the first glimpse of Kaaka
Backed by KVN Productions, the title glimpse introduces Chiranjeevi in two contrasting avatars. The video first presents him as K Satyam, a middle-aged supervisor working in the aqua industry. Dressed in a simple, understated manner, Satyam appears to lead an ordinary life and is seen dealing with his team and work responsibilities.
In one sequence, Satyam is informed about a pair of scooter keys that have been given to him by his daughter. The keys accidentally fall into the water, leading to an unusual attempt to retrieve them. A dog appears carrying a remote, which Satyam uses to operate a mechanism involving a magnet and pull the keys out.
What initially appears to be a light-hearted and quirky sequence soon takes an unexpected turn. Along with the keys, guns emerge from the water, dramatically changing the mood of the glimpse. The moment eventually leads to the title reveal and hints that Satyam may have a far more complicated past than his simple appearance suggests.
All about the film
The glimpse then moves into a flashback and introduces a younger version of Chiranjeevi. In sharp contrast to the grounded Satyam, the younger character is seen carrying guns and sporting a more stylish and flamboyant appearance. His body language and screen presence suggest a character with a strong attitude, adding an action-oriented dimension to the film.
The first glimpse therefore establishes two distinct shades of Chiranjeevi the seemingly unassuming middle-aged Satyam and his younger, more energetic alter ego. While the makers have kept the exact connection between the two characters under wraps, the contrasting appearances indicate that the story could explore different phases of the protagonist’s life.
Kaaka also features Anaswara Rajan in a pivotal role. The technical team includes production designer Avinash Kolla and editor Antony L Ruben. Kona Venkat, K Chakravarthy Reddy, Hari Mohana Krishna and Vineeth Potluri are credited as writers.
With Bobby Kolli at the helm, Kaaka is expected to combine action, entertainment and Chiranjeevi’s trademark screen presence. The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on January 13, 2027, setting up a Sankranthi release for the megastar. Chiranjeevi also has Vishwambhara, directed by Mallidi Vassishta, in his upcoming lineup.
