MTCIT opens investment window for gaming industry hub

Muscat – In a move aimed at positioning Oman as a regional destination for digital entertainment and emerging technologies, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has invited local companies and investors to submit expressions of interest (EoI) for the development, management and operations of a gaming industry hub in the sultanate
Announced by the Internal Investment Committee at MTCIT, the initiative seeks to attract companies specialising in e-sports, gaming technologies and the development and production of digital games. The proposed hub is expected to create an integrated ecosystem for the gaming sector, supporting innovation, entrepreneurship and the growth of creative digital industries in Oman
According to the ministry, the gaming hub will serve as a platform for game developers, e-sports organisations, technology companies and investors to collaborate and expand business opportunities. It is also expected to contribute to the economic diversification efforts under Vision 2040 by fostering a knowledge-based economy and creating high-value jobs for Omani youth
The MTCIT outlined several requirements for interested investors. Applicants must submit a formal letter requesting participation in the EoI process, including a copy of the company’s commercial registration certificate. All documents must be submitted in PDF format and sentating the title and reference number of the EoI
The deadline for submission of applications is August 2
The initiative reflects the growing global significance of the gaming industry, which has evolved into one of the world’s fastest-growing digital sectors, encompassing game development, e-sports competitions, content creation and advanced technologies such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence
