Darth Vader appeared in front of the San Diego City Council on Wednesday at the Public Safety and Livable Neighborhoods Committee meeting. The Supreme Commander of the Imperial Forces was there to speak in support of Flock cameras.
According to The Hill, the council did actually address him as “Darth Vader,” but we all know that’s just a guy in a costume, right?
While we don’t know his true identity, one thing we do know for sure is that he was actually not a fan of Flock cameras. And he was pretty effective in delivering that message because now there’s a funny viral video calling attention to the controversial devices.

“The Emperor is a fan of Flock,” said the “Star Wars” cosplayer. “And we must continue utilizing Flock technologies so that we can follow and surveil the Rebel scum. As they move from playground to playground. From playground to pool. For pool to gymnasium. Because we all know that the Flock cameras are not only following the license plate readers. They are following children. They are following children in parks. And gymnasiums and we need this. I need this so I can stalk my ex-girlfriend.”

The council’s reaction
“Darth Vader” then accused the council of some other improprieties before taking it back to “Star Wars” just before the buzzer.
“This is what the emperor needs,” he continued. “This technology will help us find the rebel scum and their hidden base on Hoth. This technology will help us find Luke Skywalker as he traverses the universe in his X-wing. This technology is a necessary, necessary force.”
If the council was impressed with the stunt, you couldn’t tell as the next name on the list was called as if someone in a full costume hadn’t just done a bit. It’s probably not a coincidence that Roger, the next name on the list, didn’t immediately come forward. That’s a tough act to follow.
