A leaked image posted by @MysteryLupin on the X shows the fourth-generation Nest Learning Thermostat and the new temperature sensor, along with several other thermostats: Nest E, Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Gen). The Nest Thermostat (2020) is missing from the picture, possibly because it’s incompatible with Nest’s room sensors.
As noted, the new product looks similar to the third-generation model, but appears to have a more curved display while retaining the physical watch face. 9 to 5 google. Like the third-gen model, the display is likely to be a touchscreen, with the image showing a new illustration with three wavy lines.
This suggests that the new thermostat is also an indoor air quality monitor, which will be a new feature for Nest thermostats. A leaked screenshot of the Google Home app with a new climate screen supports this theory by showing an Air Quality Index score.
Since the Nest E pictured here has been discontinued in the United States, this may indicate that, unlike the Nest Thermostat (2020), the new model will also be launched in Europe.
The thermostat appears to work with a redesigned Nest Temperature Sensor (2nd generation), which, like the current model, can be wall-mounted or placed on a table. However, it currently lacks Nest branding and looks rounder and softer. According to the post, the batteries are priced at $39 each, or three for $99, and have a three-year battery life.
That’s the same price as current sensors, which transmit temperatures from other rooms in the house to a thermostat to help balance heating and cooling. But as we said in our review, they’re quite limited compared to competing products like the Ecobee because they can’t detect presence. Hopefully these new versions will bring more features.
It’s been a long time coming from Google with its new learning thermostat that adapts to your heating and cooling patterns instead of primarily following a schedule like the newer, cheaper Nest thermostat.
