The latest gaming sales data for the United States have come in, and it gives us a look at how things went down in July 2026. Let’s kick things off with the top 20 software sales of the month. Please note that Nintendo titles mentioned in the top 20 reflect projected digital sales from Circana, and not figures provided by Nintendo.

We also have the total sales in terms of all games, accessories, hardware and more.

When it comes to hardware, we don’t have actual sales numbers, but we do have stats and placements for the platforms.
- hardware spending fell 29% when compared to a year ago, to $282 million, the lowest total for a July month since 2020 ($163 million)
- total hardware unit sales fell 39% versus July 2025,
- the average selling price of a new unit of video game hardware jumped by 16%, to $542
- hardware unit sales were down on all console platforms when compared to a year ago
- PlayStation 5 unit sales fell 6% versus July 2025, while Xbox Series dropped 18% and Switch 2 declined by 51%
- PlayStation 5 led the hardware market in dollar sales
- Switch 2 lead in units sold during the month
- with 14 months in market, Nintendo Switch 2 is 11% ahead of the time-aligned sales pace of the original Nintendo Switch
