Parvathy Thiruvothu has joined Kartik Aaryan-starrer Captain India, directed by Shimit Amin. Inspired by a real-life rescue mission, the survival thriller features Kartik as a pilot leading an evacuation operation. The film will reportedly be shot in India and Morocco

Casting coup gets serious
Parvathy Thiruvothu has joined Kartik Aaryan’s Captain India, which will be helmed by Shimit Amin. The survival thriller, inspired by a real-life rescue mission, features Kartik as a pilot who leads an evacuation operation, with Manish Chaudhary also in a key role. Parvathy, who was last seen in a cameo in Tu Yaa Main, is said to have come on board after being impressed by the script. Produced by Baweja Studios and T-Series, the film is expected to be shot in India and Morocco. It is slated to release next year.

Shimit Amin is best known for directing Shah Rukh Khan’s âChak De! India’ (2007), and Ranbir Kapoor’s âRocket Singh: Salesman of the Year’ (2009)

Another singing reality show is in the making, with AR Rahman teaming up with Sony Vizha for Tamil Idol. Just like Indian Idol, this show will seek aspiring singers from Tamil Nadu, celebrating raw talent and stage presence while nurturing emerging voices. About the development, Rahman said, “The search for new voices is at the heart of music. With Tamil Idol, for the very first time, we bring together the extraordinary voices of Tamil Nadu and give them a platform to be celebrated.”
