Iconic country band Alabama will once again perform at the Bryce Jordan Center this fall, marking the group’s third concert at the Penn State arena.
The Grammy-winning country music mainstays will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, joined by special guests The Oak Ridge Boys, the Jordan Center announced on Tuesday. Doors are scheduled to open at 6 p.m.
A presale will run from 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20 through 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21. Tickets will then go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday through Ticketmaster, with purchases limited to eight tickets.
The show will bring Alabama back to the arena nearly 30 years after it became the first country music act to perform at the Bryce Jordan Center.
Alabama first played the Bryce Jordan Center on Jan. 21, 1996, during the venue’s first month of operation. The group returned in April 2019 as part of its 50th Anniversary Tour, which also featured Charlie Daniels.
Formed in 1969, Alabama became one of country music’s most successful groups with hits including “Dixieland Delight,” “Song of the South” and “Mountain Music.”
In 2005, the group earned a spot in the Country Music Hall of Fame. The band has taken two breaks over the years but reunited in 2010 and continued touring and recording.
The Oak Ridge Boys, known for blending country, gospel and pop music, will join Alabama for the State College show. The group, which last performed in Centre County at the 2023 Grange Fair, traces its origins to the World War II era and have recorded hits including “Elvira,” “Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight” and “Y’all Come Back Saloon.”
The two bands first collaborated in 2023 when they recorded “Jesus and John Wayne.”
