Xbox announced the second batch of games coming to the service in August, and some people online aren’t impressed. One person on Reddit said it’s hard to justify paying for Game Pass Ultimate when the game choices are “junk,” while another person said this is “one of the worst drops in a while.”
Many of the games Microsoft is adding to Game Pass aren’t household names, and some aren’t even out yet. So if you subscribe to Xbox Game Pass, you can try these games soon to see if you agree with those folks. While most of the games Microsoft added earlier in August weren’t to my liking, I have been enjoying Date Everything, so maybe you’ll find a game you enjoy in this batch.
Xbox Game Pass, a CNET Editors’ Choice award pick, offers a wide selection of games you can play on your Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC or mobile device for as little as $10 per month. With a subscription to the higher-tiered Game Pass Ultimate ($23 per month), you can access hundreds of games, including new ones the day they’re released, each month.
Here are all the games Xbox is bringing to Game Pass in August.
Vapor World: Open the Mind (game preview)
Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can play on Aug. 19.
This side-scrolling soulslike game drops you into a shattered mind where you’re seeking lost memories. You’ll explore a mind filled with sorrow and regret, and you’ll have to deflect enemy attacks to create an opening to give you a window to strike. The deepest dreams will reveal everything you lost in this dark adventure.
Blood Dungeon
Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can play on Aug. 25.
Don’t let this goofy-looking game fool you. This autoshooter game is about murder, collecting blood and survival. You have to take on or avoid hordes of enemies as you explore each dungeon. Collect blood and bones to increase your power to see how long you can survive this killer dungeon.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can play on Aug. 27.
Set 15 years after A Plague Tale: Requiem, you play as a young plundered named Sophia as she navigates the Minotaur’s Island and confronts the truth behind a long-buried curse. In this action-adventure game, you’ll navigate the Minotaur’s famous maze, solve puzzles and explore a land filled with myth.
Other games coming to Xbox Game Pass
Those are some of the games Microsoft is bringing to Xbox Game Pass soon, but the company is adding more to the service this month. Here are the other games you can try soon.

- Relooted: Coming to Game Pass Premium on Aug. 19. Previously on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
- Starsand Island: Coming to Game Pass Premium on Aug. 20. Previously on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

Games leaving Game Pass soon
While Microsoft is adding those games to different Game Pass tiers, the company is removing six others soon. You still have time to play these games for the first time, or finish your campaign, before you have to buy them separately, but you should hurry.
