Animotion partnered with Leyao Culture to bring “The Fixies” to China’s live entertainment market
With more than 17 billion online views and a presence in 150+ countries and territories, “The Fixies” will now be adapted into an interactive STEM-focused theatre experience for Chinese families, set to premiere in late 2026.

Leyao Culture Communication announced that it has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Animotion Media Group, securing the Chinese stage adaptation rights to the hit educational animated series “The Fixies.” The production is scheduled to premiere in late 2026, marking an important step in Leyao Culture’s expansion into children’s live entertainment.
This stage production marks the first time “The Fixies” IP will enter China’s live entertainment market. Drawing on its extensive expertise in theatrical production and operations, Leyao Culture will recreate iconic scenes from the animated series on stage while incorporating China’s technological development and best practices in children’s science education. Guided by the STEM theatre concept of “watch a show, take a science lesson,” the production will offer Chinese families an experience that combines scientific discovery with artistic value.
Zeng Lei, Founder of Leyao Culture, said:“The Fixies is a benchmark production in the global animation industry. Its scientific foundation and educational value align closely with Leyao Culture’s mission of sharing knowledge through the performing arts. By combining international production standards with the local cultural context, we aim to create a high-quality stage production for Chinese families that is both entertaining and educational.”
Julia Nikolaeva, General Manager of Animotion Media Group, said:“The Fixies is popular in 150 countries around the world. We look forward to seeing Leyao Culture bring these vibrant stage stories to audiences in China and worldwide. Animotion will provide comprehensive support across IP licensing, creative collaboration and production technology to ensure that the show remains true to the spirit of the original and meets the highest international standards.”
An international creative team will develop the production together. While remaining faithful to the world of the original series, the script will be locally adapted to reflect the developmental needs and experiences of Chinese children. Multiple interactive segments will encourage young audience members to solve scientific puzzles alongside the characters, nurturing curiosity, a spirit of exploration and a love of learning through live theatre. From an industry perspective, “The Fixies” already has a strong audience base in China. Its distinctive combination of science education and animation gives it a clear point of difference in the family entertainment market. This partnership is not only an important example of adapting an international IP for China’s children’s theatre industry, but also opens a new channel for cross-cultural exchange, extending collaboration from screen content to the performing arts.
The production is currently in the early stages of preparation, with casting and stage design progressing in parallel. Leyao Culture will announce tour cities and ticketing information through its official channels at a later date.
Since its debut in 2010, “The Fixies” has been broadcast in more than 150 countries and territories worldwide. Following its launch on CCTV Children’s Channel in 2015, the series surpassed 17 billion views across online platforms, establishing itself as one of today’s most influential children’s educational animation properties. Through imaginative adventures set in a microscopic world, the series weaves scientific concepts, including mechanical engineering and the principles of physics, into compelling stories and has earned the trust and affection of families worldwide.
