Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is the second part of the Boruto manga and serves as a direct continuation of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Set three years after the events of the first part, it follows Boruto Uzumaki after his life is turned upside down by Eida’s reality-altering ability, which causes the world to believe he murdered Naruto and swaps his place with Kawaki. Now branded a fugitive, Boruto returns to the Hidden Leaf Village stronger than ever as a new threat, the Divine Trees, begins to emerge.
The original Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga launched in 2016, with Ukyo Kodachi writing the series alongside creator Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto handling the artwork. Kishimoto later returned as writer in 2020 following Kodachi’s departure. The first part concluded in 2023 with 20 collected volumes before continuing as Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
The franchise also received the long-running Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime from Studio Pierrot, which aired from 2017 to 2023 across 293 episodes. The anime adapted material from both the manga and original story arcs created exclusively for television before ending after the first part of the manga. A sequel anime adapting Two Blue Vortex has been announced, though a release date has yet to be confirmed.
