For Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez, the goal was always to make their wedding day about family.
That’s why tying the knot in the living room of their home in Portugal on Aug. 11—exactly 10 years after they first met—was a no-brainer for the couple.
“We’ve chosen to do it in the living room of our house here,” Rodríguez told Vogueahead of the nuptials in an interview published Aug. 16, “where we have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and where we live the reality of our lives. In 30 years’ time I want the children to think, ‘Something wonderful happened at this table—the wedding vows of our parents.’”
And while the couple certainly has the financial means to get hitched in the venue of their choosing, home really is where the heart is.
“When I was a little girl, I dreamt of the biggest castle, the biggest carriage, the longest dress, a crown full of diamonds,” the 32-year-old reflected. “And now I’m saying: no. I want something intimate, with my partner and our children, at home. Because castles, houses, islands, horses, cars: We have all of that within reach every day. But something intimate—that’s more unusual for us.”

As Ronaldo—dad to Cristiano Jr., 16, twins Eva Maria and Mateo, 9, as well as his and Rodríguez’s kids Alana, 8, Bella, 4, and their son Ángel who tragically died in 2022—put it, “It will be a special day, spent in a normal way.”
But that’s not to say the pair won’t kick off a larger celebration when the time is right.
“In the future we will have a big wedding, so we can celebrate with family and friends,” the model explained, noting that this has been a “crazy year” of “work commitments” for the couple.
One of which was the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Ronaldo, 41, represented Portugal and became the first male player in soccer history to score in six different World Cup tournaments.
Weeks later, Ronaldo and Rodríguez had the intimate wedding of their dreams. And after the ceremony, they drove to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima where the priest offered them a blessing.
“It was exactly as I’d imagined it,” Rodríguez shared. “Intimate, full of love, and with our family in the most important starring role. I couldn’t hold back the tears.”
“I needed nothing more,” she added, “my husband, my children, our home, our faith, and our love.”
