La. (KSLA) – Geek’d Con returned for its second day at the Shreveport Convention Center Saturday, August 15, drawing fans from across the region for celebrity meet-and-greets, cosplay and gaming
Some attendees drove hours to be there. Keith Stanley, who traveled from near Beaumont, Texas, said the trip required planning but was worth it.
“I’ve been trying to come the last couple of years, but I’m from, like I said, down close to Beaumont,” Stanley said. “So, it’s not just, you know, jump in the truck and take off and see — a little bit of planning. So I’m very happy to finally be here. I’ve got some friends at cosplay in Louisiana, so I’ve hooked them up and hopefully get together and get some pictures of them.”
Tras Caldwell, owner of Gamers XP, said Geek’d Con is the only convention of its kind in Shreveport and that the event serves as a platform for his business.
“It is a huge billboard for us,” Caldwell said. “So, we sponsor it every year, or we do some level of sponsorship every year. It is the only con that really comes to Shreveport, so we definitely want to support this particular con along with a couple other card shows and stuff out there.”
WWE Hall of Famer Kane was among the featured guests on Day 2. Kane said connecting with fans who have carried memories of him over the years never gets old.

“It’s always fun to come to events like this and to meet folks that share memories that they have of you over the years,” Kane said. “I already had one person that remembered me wrestling here in Shreveport and went to the live show. So, it’s really, really cool.”
Kane also said one of the most heartwarming sights at events like Geek’d Con is watching parents introduce their children to his matches for the first time.
Professional wrestler Matt Hardy, who said he and Jeff Hardy are marking their 35th year in the business starting Oct. 15, said the connection with fans remains strong.
“It’s been amazing,” Hardy said. “Myself and Jeff, we are very aware without our fans, there would be no us. So, we’re very grateful. People are very grateful for our interactions with them. Because we know without our fans, there would be no us.”
