When Scream roared back to the big-screen in 2022, it immediately reclaimed its status as a blockbuster franchise. Over the last five years, that has continued, with the theatrical outings grossing over $1 billion worldwide.
However, many forget the time when the franchise was in a theatrical lull, and opted to take a surprising gamble.
In 2015, Scream: The TV Series debuted on MTV, becoming one of the first major horror properties to make that leap.
The first two seasons were moderately successful, and followed a new group of teens, tackling a whodunnit-style killer dressed in the guise of local legend Brandon James.
For its third and final season Scream: Resurrection moved to VH1 and took on a more traditional approach. Resurrection replaced Brandon James with the iconic Ghostface, something the series initially couldn’t get the rights to.
Whilst the television venture quickly fell out of favour with Scream fans, it has garnered somewhat of a cult following over the past decade. However, any fans wishing to re-visit the series have been unable, as Scream: The TV Series had never been sold to streaming, or even debuted to physical media.
Now, that’s all changed, with horror-heavy streamer Tubi announcing that they have acquired all three seasons of Scream: The TV Series, and have made them immediately available to stream.
So, whether you’re a Brandon James fan, or a Ghostface purest, you can finally get your small-screen Scream fix at the push of a button.
Still no word on an official physical media release for Scream: The TV Series. However, you never know what might happen if the streaming numbers are good!
