Fla. (WMBB) – It’s no secret that the Panama City Center for the Arts has some unique visuals, and they’re doing it again with the four distinctive exhibitions currently open
“Having a facility like this dedicated to the arts, it’s really great for the creative community because it allows people to grow. People that come and visit, they don’t just come one time; they see that art and spirit and they want to live here, they want to be a part of it,” said the Executive Director of Bay Art Alliance, Jayson Kretzer.
In the Main Gallery, “Pen, Paint, Pop! – A Comics & Cartoon Exhibit” is currently on display through Sept.19. Highlighting amateur and professional comic artists and cartoonists, this exhibit features original manga/comics and cartoons
Within the Miller Gallery, guests can see Eric Darnell’s “Battle Bulbs & Other Stuff Eric Loves,” currently on display until Aug. 29. Featuring junk art and 200 tiny robots made out of lightbulbs and other parts, half of the proceeds from Darnell’s display will go directly to the Panama City Center for the Arts.
On display in the Higby Gallery, “Eco-Couture” highlights high-tech fashion made from various technological items. Originally celebrated back in June with a fashion show on the Center for the Arts lawn, this exhibit by Trash Market focuses on the importance of sustainability and will be on display until Aug. 29.
Lastly, in the Spotlight Gallery, “Seashell Art” highlights the local beauty of our coastal community through Aug. 29. By Jerry Cole, this self-taught seashell artist has been collecting seashells from beaches across the region since 2000 and seeks to tell their stories.
With over 30 exhibitions offered per year, the Panama City Center for the Arts provides an outlet for local artists to showcase their hard work in addition to multiple classes and exhibits.
