At Disney’s D23 expo, a new anime series based on Kingdom Hearts was teased. While the title of the series wasn’t revealed, a teaser image shared by the company’s social media channels states that the it will be “coming soon” to the Disney Channel and the Disney Plus subscription streaming service.
The series is developed in partnership with Square Enix and the series creator Tetsuya Nomura. It will “reimagine the iconic adventure with a brand-new story that will expand the universe of Kingdom Hearts” and celebrate the characters that have captured the hearts of millions of fans around the world,” says Disney.
The image teased features a picture of a character with dark hair, a fur-lined leather clothing and a black and a silver keyblade—seemingly unclear if the protagonist pictured is Sora or not.
At the same event, it was announced that Kingdom Hearts IV will feature a new world based on the 2017 Pixar animated film Coco. You can catch the trailer for that here.
