The biggest perk of having the Nintendo Switch 2 is being able to take your games on the go, no strings attached. However, we’re limited when it comes to headsets for the Nintendo Switch 2 that give us that same freedom from having to be plugged in, and the decision to have the 3.5mm audio jack on top of the system instead of the bottom was certainly… a choice. Turtle Beach continues to answer the call for our audio needs with the Stealth 500 headset, the first officially licensed wireless headset for the Nintendo Switch 2.
The Stealth 500 comes in either white or black, with a blue headband strap and red accents on the ear cups, as well as the Nintendo Switch 2 logo on the frame. This is a very lightweight over-ear headset, weighing around 233g (about half a pound), with that strap helping to distribute that weight better across the head. I wish it was just a little bit longer because it doesn’t quite sit as well on my head, even at its last notch. This headset is definitely better suited for children and others with a smaller cranium. Of course, the strap is able to be removed entirely, but then you lose the benefit of weight distribution, and there’s no adjustable slide for better positioning.
These are your typical noise-cancelling 40-mm headphones, keeping the noises you want contained while blocking out the sounds you don’t want getting in. It is equipped with a flip-to-mute mic that tucks nicely into the earcup, which is appreciated for aesthetic reasons. Headsets that fit your budget are important. That said, you want the best for what you’re paying, and that means you’re usually leaving functions on the table to fit it in your price range. Turtle Beach has never shied away from giving you plenty of options, and with

The Stealth 500 connects to the Nintendo Switch 2 via Bluetooth or with the 2.4Ghz adapter, which are both options if you want to use the headset with your mobile device. It took me a bit to figure out how to get it to pair with my Switch 2 system as the manual is really just a “read before you use” about regulatory info more than anything else. I actually had to Google the instructions for how to pair the headset. However, after that it has been nothing but smooth sailing. I got it paired to the Switch 2 for some gaming and then paired it with my phone for some chill tunes.
In the box you’ll find the headset tucked into a simple dust sleeve, with the charging cable, USB-C adapter, and manual in a small plastic baggie. I was actually surprised at how little packaging there was. The headset isn’t secured in place by any foam or molded inserts, which surprised me given this is a $90 USD headset. It may be more ‘earconomical’ as Lead Editor David Burdette mentions, but that’s still a good chunk of change for many. What isn’t super pricey that is an appreciated offering is the ability to purchase a replacement headband strap for only $7 USD should yours get worn out, damaged, or lost, though they are only available in black.
