PC gamers after a new open-world adventure can now pick up this 88% positive-rated title from 2024 for free.

Buyer’s remorse is a big problem within the gaming community, where people who splash their cash on a variety of different games can often feel like there were one or two different experiences that didn’t live up to their expectations.

If you’ve ever felt like that, picking up free games as and when they become available becomes a good gateway to finding your next favourite title. If you disliked it, then hey, at least you didn’t spend any money on it.

Caravan SandWitch, a game from 2024 about exploring a sci-fi world in your camper van, is currently free to claim on the Epic Games Store for all players to pick up for the next week.

Available from today and running until August 20. If you claim the game and add it to your Epic Games account, you’ll have it in your library to keep forever.

On the Epic Games Store, Caravan SandWitch is rated 4.5/5 stars, while it has 88% positive user reviews on Steam as well.

Caravan SandWitch is an open-world adventure game where you “embark on a journey across a Sci-Fi Provence-like world, driven by a mystery through your missing sister that unfolds with each step you take.”

The core experience of Caravan SandWitch is supposed to be a slow and methodical one. Your journey has you find different communities within Cigalo, where you help them with any requests they may have, all while meeting plenty of new people on your journey.

Since the game doesn’t have any combat, timer, or fail state mechanics, it’s an experience that encourages you to slow down to take in the gorgeous scenery and beautiful vistas.

It’s a lot like Death Stranding but without the combat, which is a pretty good deal for those who enjoy immersive worlds.

Caravan SandWitch is a kind-of hopepunk game that inspires change and collective work within communities

The blurb on Caravan SandWitch reads: “Equipped with your van and an array of essential tools, you set out on a quest to find your missing sister. Upgrade your van throughout your adventure and explorations to open up new passages and ruins.

“From navigating treacherous terrain to uncovering ancient ruins, every step of your journey brings you closer to unraveling the truth behind your sister’s disappearance.”

Caravan SandWitch is described as a “hopeful post-apocalypse”, where society has crumbled by the time the game takes place, but also features different people and communities who help each other to live peacefully.

As you continue to interact with these characters, you’ll come to understand that your community is your home.

Inclusivity is a core focus for developer Studio Plane Toast, which wanted to create an experience that represents a world where communities help each other to overcome the environmental consequences of our way of life.

That also means the game was written with an inclusive script, honouring a real community with its people and representation. And with it going free this week, now’s a great time to check out the newEnglish localisation update that launched this month.

If you want to pick up Caravan SandWitch for free, you have until August 20 to claim it on the Epic Games Store.
