A high-quality model collectible of the most recognizable ship in Star Wars
LEGO has made the Millennium Falcon at just about every scale over the years, from the 7,500-piece Ultimate Collector Series version down to tiny polybag builds. This one falls in the middle, and it’s part of what LEGO calls the Starship Collection. The Starship Collection is a mid-scale series of display ship models taken directly from the movies. Building the Falcon’s roundness with LEGO bricks is the most challenging aspect of the build. At 921 pieces, there’s sufficient detail to allow for a couple of hours of quality time spent building this model.
The details LEGO chose to recreate come from the ship as it appears in A New Hope, so the cockpit sits off to the side on its corridor, the radar dish on top is round rather than rectangular, and the quad laser cannons are built onto the top and bottom hull. Getting the circular shape of the Falcon right in bricks is the interesting part of the build, and at 921 pieces there’s enough here to spend an afternoon on it.
The display stand gets built partway through the process rather than at the end. It’s black, it holds the ship at a slight tilt, and the Falcon simply sits down over a stud on top of it rather than clipping in with any mechanism. A printed plate on the front carries the LEGO Star Wars logo and the ship name, and the anniversary brick can either go on the stand or sit separately on the shelf.
Instructions come as a paper booklet, and the LEGO Builder app has the same steps in 3D if you’d rather rotate the model on a screen while you build. There are no stickers anywhere in this set, so every printed element is printed on the brick itself.
The LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon 25th Anniversary Collectible Set came out in March 2024 and doesn’t get marked down often, so $68 rather than $85 is worth catching. Two studs on either side of the stand are open, which is where you’d put your own minifigures if you have Han and Chewie sitting around already.
