Roblox has faced significant scrutiny over child safety, with concerns raised by entities such as the Louisiana state government, a Los Angeles County lawsuit, and the Australian government.
In response, over the last two years, Roblox has introduced enhanced safety measures, such as restrictions on direct messaging for users under 13 and the implementation of voluntary facial recognition checks to control conversations between minors and adults.
A “sensitive issues” content tag was recently introduced to limit certain experiences for those under 13 without parental approval. Additionally, new moderation policies aim to provide clearer information to users, parents, and authorities, alongside an AI tool designed to detect potential child endangerment issues early.
