Netflix has a hefty line-up for French movies, series and unscripted shows. Below, we have compiled everything we know about the upcoming series, documentaries, and movies scheduled to drop on the platform in 2026, as well as projects currently in production slated to drop next year and beyond.
New and Returning French Original Series Coming to Netflix in 2026 & Beyond
Lupin (Part 4) (October 23rd)

After being rumored for a while, season (or part) 4 of Lupin was officially confirmed in May of 2025, with production taking place in the next few months until late August 2024 in Paris and London. Omar Sy, remaining in demand with Netflix, will also shoot the Extraction spin-off series for release later on the platform. An official global launch date is confirmed for October 23rd, but no story elements have been confirmed beyond Omar Sy reprising his role and the addition of Théo Christine to play Assane’s son Raoul. Cocaine Cargo (working title)

This docuseries is produced by filmmaker Cédric Jimenez, who has been one of the top French directors of the past few years with theatrical hits The Stronghold and November, around the terrorist attacks of November 2015 in Paris. It is set to be directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Just Philippot and will immerse the public in the explosive games and political scandals involving local syndicates and drug cartels around the port of Le Havre, which has become one of the crucial destinations to transport tons of cocaine through cargo shipments. It is also set to address the daily lives of local dockers, some of whom are caught up in this criminal spiral. Announced in the spring of 2025, VP of documentaries Dolores Émile confirmed in Le Parisien that production was on track on the docuseries for an expected 2027 launch.
The Cage(Season 2)

A season 2 for MMA drama The Cage was confirmed late last year, following strong debut numbers. Not much has been known, and the show was left off of Netflix’s official schedule for 2026. But according to ads for hiring extras, such as this one, we know the show has been quietly shooting in the summer of 2025 around Seine-Saint-Denis.
La Comtesse de Monte-Cristo (fall 2026)

After more than two decades on the French small and silver screen, Audrey Fleurot became a bona fide superstar with smash hit High Potential. Now, TF1 has extended their collaboration with her as star and coproducer of this miniseries, which will also be released on Netflix globally this fall. There is no shortage of Monte-Cristo adaptations lately: in the past 2 years alone, we count one French blockbuster starring Pierre Niney, and one European miniseries starring Sam Claflin. But this project is a very loose adaptation, as it focuses on the paramour of Edmond Dantès, Mercedes Herrera, whose destiny is ripped apart when he is arrested and imprisoned in the Castle of If. But as she races to save his life, the usual story takes a turn when (spoiler alert, which is mentioned in the official synopsis provided by TF1) Edmond is killed while trying to escape, and Mercedes is then imprisoned.
The subsequent revenge story on the wide conspiracy then becomes hers. The all-star cast features many known faces from TF1, such as Zabou Breitman, Thierry Godard (The Head, Andor), Eric Elmosino and Kad Merad. The 8-episode series has been shooting as of October 2025 in Malta and the Czech Republic; we strongly expect a fall release. On the Netflix side, Fleurot was part of the ensemble cast of premium miniseries Le Bazar de La Charité, one of the first partnerships between TF1 and Netflix back in 2022. La Comtesse de Monte-Cristo is written by Gaïa Guasti, Djibril Glissant, Clément Peny and Florian Spitzer; directed by Djibril Glissant and Leonardo D’Antoni.
Johnny Biloute
Genre: Comedy

French superstar Dany Boon is currently in production on his first-ever series for Netflix, after original movie Stuck Together, released in 2021. He will return to the North of France to play a biker, Rudy, nicknamed Johnny Biloute, an avowed fan of late rock superstar Johnny Hallyday, who will team up with his gang when their beloved headquarters are threatened with destruction, to be replaced with a casino. Opposite Boon, Cash Queens star Pascale Arbillot will return to Netflix, as well as well-known French repertoire players such as veterans François Berléand and Chantal Ladesou, and Boon’s own daughter Sarah as Rudy’s daughter. The project is entirely directed by Dany Boon and is expected to premiere in 2027.
Les Brumes
Genre: Crime thriller, drama

This book-to-screen adaptation comes from the books of French best-selling writer Olivier Norek and his release Les Brumes de Capelan. The synopsis is below:
Anna, a mute young woman and the sole survivor, is urgently extracted to a windswept Atlantic island. There lives Victor Coste, a police officer who has exiled himself to the other side of the world. Cut off from everything, he accepts one last mission: to get Anna to talk, identify the killer, and prevent him from striking again. But when the world’s densest fog rolls in, a race against time begins, as the island itself turns into a trap.
The project comes from duo Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre De La Patellière, who were behind the recent blockbuster movie takes on The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo (the show was co-written with Sylvain Caron and partially directed by Thierry Poiraud). They will team with one of their musketeers, Pio Marmaï (seen last year as the antihero of Néro The Assassin), and the remote island shoot and mystery (featuring the coasts of Ireland), as well as their taste for crowd-pleasing suspense and action, should play as a French answer to Nordic noir mysteries with a definite global appeal. Given the A-list talent involved, we expect a big launch somewhere in 2027.
Blood Coast (Pax Massilia) Season 3

Premiering in late 2023, the first season of Blood Coast found a good echo with French subscribers; the follow-up had to wait until Olivier Marchal completed the production of another Netflix movie. But the long wait did not deter the second season from finding its audience once again. In early 2026, Netflix renewed the Gaumont TV-produced show for another 6 episodes. Outside of a new director (Nicolas Guicheteau for 2 episodes) and veteran writers Olivier Dujols and Edgar Marie brought in to help in the writers’ room (Kamel Guemra, Sled Bidounga, Morade Aissaoui), the show remains co-written, produced, and directed by Olivier Marchal. The show is also one of the sole French originals to be a continuing series, for now, with Gaumont having hopes for it to continue multiple years. As this new season was shot in Marseille through the winter and spring of this year, we can expect delivery either later this year or in early 2027.
Maternité (working title)
Genre: Medical drama

Netflix has greenlit a handful of medical dramas for its regional slate, and announced the shoot for this new untitled series last spring. Award-nominated singer and actress Izïa Higelin will play a midwife trying to face a strong moral dilemma as she takes on complicated childbirth cases in an overworked unit near Paris. Per the synopsis:
Maya is pressured into supervising complicated childbirths with him inside the maternity ward of a seriously understaffed public hospital, itself at its breaking point. Maya then faces an impossible choice: giving birth alone, or renouncing her dream of becoming a mother.
This project, created by Marjorie Bosch and Sarah Farkas, has a cast mainly composed of up-and-coming faces. With experienced director Slimane-Baptiste Berhoun (Vortex) at the helm, it might be one of the freshest French offerings of 2027.
Life Is A Long Quiet River
Genre: Satirical comedy

Not much is known about this new take on the 1988 cult classic directed by Étienne Chatiliez. We expect it to have the same premise: one poor family living off of petty crime will have its life rocked when it is revealed that one of their children was swapped at birth with another… Now living in a well-off, strict Catholic family. The show is set to shoot in the fall of 2026 in Southwest France.

One of the coproductions between Netflix and lead broadcaster TF1, this light Adventure/comedy project is set to star Audrey Fleurot, who will play Stella, a disillusioned insurance agent whose life will be turned upside down when her mother is kidnapped. The kidnappers want Stella to retrieve the hidden treasure of pirate La Buse, somewhere on the island of La Réunion. She will make the journey alongside carefree local Liam. The show was in production on location over the spring and summer, and we can expect it to premiere in 2027.

Also a coproduction between TF1 and Netflix, this ambitious miniseries brings to the screen one of the best-selling books by Ken Follett, about a network of civilian women tasked with infiltrating a castle serving as Nazi headquarters in France, in order to allow D-Day to happen. The big-budget show brings together big stars who are somewhat rare on television (Laetitia Casta), with known quantities for the French audience (Mathilde Seigner, Mickaël Youn), and the star of Furies (whose second season aired this spring), Lina El Arabi. Just like The Countess Of Monte-Cristo coming this fall, we can expect a big launch at some point in 2027.
New French Original Movies Coming to Netflix in 2026 & Beyond
Quasimodo, The Soul Of Paris (Fall 2026)

Vincent Cassel remains in business with Netflix after his 2025 electronic music send-up, Banger. But this time around, it’s for a blockbuster production which will revise the legend of Quasimodo, by promising a more grounded, historically accurate look at a character said to have inspired Victor Hugo to write The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. With a whopping €30 million budget, reported by local magazine Challenges, the movie will also star Karim Leklou, Daphné Patakia, Benjamin Voisin, Noémie Lvovsky, Sébastien Pouderoux, Eli Nachmani, and Alexis Rosenstiehl.
“Set in Paris on the eve of the July Revolution (1830), this film reimagines the life of the man said to have inspired Victor Hugo’s iconic character, Quasimodo. As the cholera epidemic spreads through the city, he’s caught between political turmoil and an impossible love.”
No additional details have been released about the characters, but the movie wrapped filming in October of 2025 for a fall 2026 release. Several sequences were reported to be shot in the cathedral of Bourges by local media, the same locale used for part of another movie set in Notre-Dame de Paris, Notre-Dame Brûle by Jean-Jacques Annaud.
Call My Agent: The Movie (September 10th)

Set around Andréa Martel’s (Camille Cottin) new career as a director, as the loss of her lead comedian days before the shoot sends her life into a frenzy, the movie is one of the most anticipated out of the Netflix French lineup, after years of development setbacks. The platform has also brought the show back globally in anticipation of the 2026 premiere of the project, which wrapped shooting in December of 2025, and will feature cameos by George Clooney and Eva Longoria. You can find our updated preview here. The cast made a splashy red carpet appearance at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, for footage that is set to be included in the finished movie. Before its September premiere, the movie will be part of the line-up of the Angoulême French Film Festival in late August, whose co-head is Call My Agent! producer Dominique Besnehard.
Un Bon Avocat (fall 2026)

A former creative team is coming back to Netflix: director Tristan Séguéla and actor Laurent Lafitte, who made an ambitious biopic of controversial businessman Bernard Tapie into a series (Class Act), have wrapped shooting earlier this year on a new courtroom drama with strong character work. The performance by Lafitte has drawn the attention of the Venice Film Festival crew, which selected it for an out-of-competition premiere in early September. Netflix will then release the movie globally somewhere in the fall. Lafitte stars as Léonard Landry, a brilliant but cocaine-addicted criminal defense lawyer. Landry’s double life reaches a breaking point when he collapses from an overdose in the middle of a heated courtroom argument. After a stint in rehab, Landry is thrown into the deep end with only one week to prepare for the trial of a lifetime.
Promets-Moi

This emotional drama is a French remake of a previous Netflix release: 2022’s Beyond The Universe (Depois do Universo), out of Brazil. The premise is globally the same:
The story of Nina, a young piano prodigy suffering from an autoimmune disease. She is about to give up on her dreams, until she meets Gabriel, a medical intern, who revives her hope and her will to live intensely.
The shoot started last spring under the supervision of Nicolas Cuche, who helmed rom-com Honeymoon Crasher in 2025. This mix of romance and emotion also has a good track record from the original; we can expect a release somewhere in 2027.
Under Paris 2

The sequel to 2024’s surprise hit will release next year, as the logline has the story pick up three years after the events of the first movie, in flooded downtown Paris.
Three years after the Paris triathlon disaster, the center of the Capital is submerged. Sophia (Bejo) and Adil (Lyes) reunite for a high-risk mission: to track Lilith, the original predator, in the shark-infested Seine. There, they will discover that the deadly wildlife hides a much more surprising reality…
Even though original director Xavier Gens is no longer on board (he remains credited as co-writer and executive producer), Netflix picked veteran French director Alexandre Aja for this new chapter; Aja is a specialist in the high-stakes creature feature, from Piranha to Crawl. He is also involved in the current shooting draft, alongside longtime associate Grégory Levasseur, Frédéric Garcia, William Laboury, Xavier Gens & Fanny Talmone.Bérénice Béjo and Nassim Lyes are returning from the first movie, which is reported to be in production in both Paris and the Marseille area.
Family Pack 2: Renaissance

Inspired by hit game Les Loups-Garous de Thiercelieux, the first Family Pack movie didn’t make a strong mark in global viewership. But, in the twisty spirit of the game, production company Radar Films and writer-director François Uzan had a few tricks up their sleeve. First, this sequel is actually a reset with a brand-new family; second, the time-traveling device will transport them into a new historical era, the Renaissance. The first movie had a few A-listers, including Franck Dubosc and Jean Reno; now, in a true casting coup, Jamel Debbouze will be the lead in the movie, marking his first collaboration with Netflix, alongside Monica Bellucci and well-known comedians Fred Testot and R. Jonathan Lambert.
L’Affaire OM/VA (working title)
Announced in the spring of 2025 at Séries Mania, the documentary film, just like Les Bleus, will follow a shocking and well-known sports case that also concerns a previous subject of a Netflix series, late businessman Bernard Tapie (whose show Tapie/Class Act was released in 2023). In late 1993, Tapie was the owner of the football club Olympique de Marseille and was celebrated for restoring the club to its former glory and reaching new highs, until one player for the club of Valenciennes accused the businessman of cheating and buying the victory of a Marseille/Valenciennes match played in May 1993. The National Football League soon carried the case to the courts, and a formal investigation was launched. The project, like Le Bus, is produced by Breath Films.
New French Unscripted shows coming in 2026 and beyond
L’Arène (September 30th)
This MMA competition series was announced in late August of 2025 and was recently announced to premiere this fall, right after hit series Rhythm+Flow France‘s new cycle. Produced by Black Dynamite, it will be hosted by Franck Gastambide and a jury composed of champion fighters Ciryl Gane (seen in the Netflix movie K.O.), Cédric Doumbè and Benoît Saint-Denis. 38 contestants – 19 women and 19 men – will join in “the biggest Fight Camp” ever devised for an intense “fight club” until two of them remain, for an ultimate fight and a €100K prize, paired with a pro league contract.
100% Physique (Physical: 100 France)
Announced without warning in early July, the show is currently in production and is a French-speaking version of the popular Physical: 100 format that originated in Korea. The first few names out of the 100 contestants are a mix of content creators, Olympic athletes, international champions, and a few celebrities, including rappers Hatik and MC Jean Gab’1.
