The Jetsons
Warner Bros. confirmed in a recent letter to shareholders that plans are officially in place for live-action film adaptation of The Jetsons starring Jim Carrey. No further details on the project are currently available.
Bluefly
Elsewhere, Deadline reports Russell Crowe and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are attached to star in the “sci-fi action thriller” Bluefly. Directed by Nimród Antal (Predators) and based on script by David Frigerio (Beast), William Eubank (Underwater) and Carlyle Eubank (Muzzle), the story is said to be set “deep in the Congo,” where “a grieving UN translator is pulled onto a black-ops mission to recover a downed aircraft that isn’t supposed to exist. As a Special Operations team pushes upriver through militia-held territory, the recovery becomes a descent — and the closer they get to the craft, the clearer it becomes that they were never meant to bring it home.”
Deadline also has word Screen Gems has acquired Mime, a film package for a “supernatural horror” movie from director Nikyatu Jusu (Nanny). Starring John David Washington (Tenet), the story from screenwriter Stephen Herman (Black Box, Silent) is said to be “set in a NYC apartment complex in the middle of a heat wave blackout.”
Man of Tomorrow
When asked about any revisions to DC’s upcoming release strategy in the wake of Supergirl, David Zaslav stated the company “is focused on [James Gunn’s]Man of Tomorrow, which “looks amazing.”
[DC] is focused on Man of Tomorrow. I saw some pictures yesterday that looked amazing. Actually, yesterday was James’s birthday, and he’s out working. He’s working 16, 18 hours a day. It looks fantastic. We’re super excited about it.

Spaceship Earth
Deadline reports a TV series based on the Disney World EPCOT attraction, Spaceship Earth, is now in development at Disney+. Developed for television by Jason Fuchs (It: Welcome To Derry), the series is said to concern “a mission to avert an imminent global cataclysm” going disastrously awry, forcing “a small band of teenagers from Earth’s past and future” to “join forces” and “confront a threat as vast and mysterious as time itself.”
