Shozen, the upcoming anime based on the Chinese fantasy manhua Shangshan, has gotten its first numbered trailer and an April 2027 broadcast start window.
The premise sees the Taoist priest Dozen (Hiroshi Kamiya) encountering a girl (Rina Kawaguchi) raised by monsters. Dozen gives her the name Shozen, and takes her as a disciple and traveling companion. Itsuro Kawasaki (The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting) is directing and writing the Dangun Pictures and Cannon Code production.
The Shangshan manhua was created byJiangjia Meiziand is available on Bilibili Manga.
Shozen will be broadcast on Fuji TV’s B8Station slot, which mainly broadcasts Japanese-dubbed versions of Chinese animated shows.
