PC gamers can now pick up a brand new $10 bundle which includes over 100 games to play.

Hundreds of indie game developers have banded together to launch the Game Industry Hardship Fund, a new bundle featured on Itch which includes over a hundred games.

Organised by Demonschool developer Necrosoft Games, the purpose of the fund is to raise money for the “unprecedented number” of laid off developers who have found themselves without work in the last few years.

The bundle includes games from indie developers and studios such as adamgryu, Milkbag Games, and Minor Key Games.

“The game industry has a problem. Too many people are out of work,” reads the bundle description.

“Reports say 33% of the industry lost their jobs in the last two years, and the jobs they could fill are disappearing as CEOs try to replace them with AI. It’s hard for companies to adjust to the new shape of the game industry, but even harder for the people they should be employing.

Just recently we’ve seen massive layoffs at Ubisoft, Microsoft, and many others, with thousands of game developers, many with 20+ years of experience, out of work.”

$10 for 127 games in the Game Industry Hardship Fund is an incredible deal, and for a good cause too

The $10 bundle features 127 items in total, ranging from indie gems you’d never heard of, to quite popular ones you have played at some point in the past few years.

It includes some really great indies in there, such as the 2019 adventure game A Short Hike, and the Wikipedia-themed sci-fi game Neurocracy. The Doom-like immersive sim Eldritch and arcade racer Wheels of Aurelia are also worth checking out. And I’ll take any opportunity to shout out SkateBird, the game that’s featured on this article’s cover image as well. It’s fantastic.

Aside from that, there are over a hundred other indie games to check out. Even as someone who plays quite a lot of indie games, there are a bunch here I’ve never even heard of, so it’s a good idea to have a browse and see if anything tickles your fancy.

The fund has a goal of $100,000, and will run until August 13, 2026. Proceeds generated from the bundle will contribute towards a hardship fund for the developers who have been laid off at big companies.

Individuals who have experienced a layoff or are otherwise under-employed can apply to the fund and use the money for food, healthcare, and rent.

The fund is run by United Videogame Workers, a union for game developers run in North America. Due to this jurisdiction, the fund is only available to developers who are located in the United States and Canada.

If you’re interested in checking it out, you can download the bundle from Itch now until August 13. As the bundle is exclusive to Itch, you won’t be able to claim these games on other PC platforms such as Steam or Epic Games.
