Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s Nintendo Switch 2 Edition has a couple of issues

Today, Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s new Nintendo Switch 2 Edition officially released, and while it’s a huge technological upgrade over the original Switch version, it’s not perfect. New issues potentially warrant a patch for the game already, though it’s unclear if that will happen here.
One of the issues here is that the audio mixing of the game has been adjusted – and not in a good way. There are reports of footsteps being too loud, and – we can confirm this one ourselves – the battle music is far quieter than it should be, meaning it’ll almost always be nearly completely drowned out by character voices unless you choose very specific audio settings.
Perhaps more importantly is a glitch that occurs in New Game+. Under normal circumstances, you can buy third accessory slots for your drivers. However, Enel on Twitter originally discovered that the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition sometimes wipes your third accessory slot. Another Twitter user has hypothesized that using amiibo and receiving WP as your reward somehow causes the third accessory slot to disappear. Either way, it may be best to hold off on a New Game+ save file for now – and instead just create a second user profile.
We’re hoping to see a patch at some point, but again, we’re not sure how likely that is – it’s possible that the development team handling these upgrades has already moved to Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and since they’re moving from one game to the next, it might explain why Xenoblade Chronicles X hasn’t had an update to its own problems yet.
Despite the issues we’re bringing up here, as mentioned above, there’s still a lot to love here from a technical standpoint alone. You can now experience the RPG in up to 4K and 60 frames per second, which is a huge plus. There’s even a big quality-of-life improvement that no one was aware would be included.
