To celebrate a half-century of Marvel’s Dark Angel, Jessica Drew is stepping back into the shadows—and this time, she’s bringing one of the most terrifying symbiotes in existence along for the ride.
Dan Watters (Loki) and artist Andrea Broccardo (Spider-Man Noir) are reuniting to launch an all-new ongoing Spider-Woman series arriving on November 4, 2026. The title follows their work on September’s Spider-Woman 50th Anniversary Special #1 and pivots Jessica’s world into a dark, street-level mystery that forces her to confront her most dangerous impulses yet.
The Inciting Incident: What Happens in ‘Spider-Versity’?
The stage for Jessica’s darkest chapter is officially set in next month’s Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity #5.
In a shocking turn of events, Jessica finds herself in possession of a bloodthirsty, captured Carnage symbiote. Rather than destroying the parasite or handing it over to government containment, Jess is forced to keep the creature barely contained within her own orbit.
The psychological toll of maintaining control over a wild, homicidal symbiote becomes the driving engine of the series. As the darkness inside threatens to break free, Jessica has to balance her own bio-electric powers and spider-instincts against Carnage’s relentless whisper.
Back to the P.I. Roots with Ben Urich
Instead of operating as a traditional jet-setting Avenger, Spider-Woman #1 grounds Jessica back in her classic private investigator era.
Teaming up with legendary Daily Bugle investigative journalist Ben Urich, Jessica takes on cases and leads too dangerous for traditional crime reporters. Venturing into the seedy, forgotten corners of the Marvel Universe that other heroes intentionally avoid, the duo uncovers a string of bizarre crimes, resurrecting old foes and exposing hidden conspiracies lurking in the dark.
Investigating leads too dangerous for the Daily Bugle’s journalists, Jess will uncover some of the strangest crimes in New York City. And in a town like this? That’s saying a lot.

Celebrating 50 Years of Legacy
Before the main ongoing title lands in November, fans get their first taste of Watters and Broccardo’s new direction in Spider-Woman 50th Anniversary Special #1, hitting stands on September 2, 2026.
The landmark one-shot also features a special backup story written by groundbreaking creator Ann Nocenti (Daredevil) alongside artist Stefano Raffaele. Nocenti—who famously wrote the character’s original series conclusion back in the 1980s—returns for a redemptive detective tale set in Los Angeles, where Jessica matches wits with her classic villain, Flying Tiger.
