Ryan Reynolds appeared during the “Avengers: Doomsday” panel in San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H on July 26, wearing a black-and-gray, denim-inspired Deadpool costume he later named “Jeanpool.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter and Just Jared, Reynolds appeared during the Hall H presentation while posing as a fan named “Ricky.” Still in character, he asked co-star Paul Rudd about Thor, and Rudd joked in response that Thor was “a Wrexham fan” — a reference to Reynolds’ real-life ownership stake in the Welsh soccer club, per Just Jared.
Reynolds then asked the panel when production would begin, prompting Robert Downey Jr. to reply that filming had already wrapped. Reynolds followed up by asking whether the production might need additional photography or was facing budget overages — a question read by both Just Jared and The Hollywood Reporter as a playful pitch to be written into the film — before wrapping up the bit and telling the panel, “No further questions. Happy Hogan, fetch the Audi. We’re leaving,” per The Hollywood Reporter.
Following the appearance, Reynolds shared behind-the-scenes photos of himself in the black-and-gray suit, naming it “Jeanpool” and revealing that he had spent the day wandering San Diego Comic-Con and taking photos with unsuspecting fans The suit itself is a variation on Deadpool’s comic-book “X-Force” gray costume, which has not appeared in any of the Deadpool films
Neither Kevin Feige nor the Russo brothers confirmed any role for Deadpool in “Avengers: Doomsday” during the panel, and Reynolds has not been added to the film’s official cast list. His exchange with Downey Jr. was reported by both outlets as an in-character bit rather than a casting reveal, and it should not be read as confirmation that Deadpool appears in the film.
