After unveiling the trailer at Delhi, Mumbai, and the San Diego Comic Con, Nitesh Tiwari directed Ramayana’s official 4-minute glimpse is finally available for public viewing. Fans eagerly logged in at 4:15 am to catch a peek into the magnum opus that stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi.
Touted to be one of the biggest Hindi films of the year, the trailer traces the journey of Lord Ram from exile to epic battle with demon king Ravana.
Ramayana trailer out!
The Ramayana trailer opens on a gripping note with the battle between Airavat and Krodha, Ravana’s fearsome pet. It then introduces Yash’s Ravanain the guise of a sage before revealing his regal avatar as the mighty king addressing the people of Lanka from his grand palace.
The narrative shifts to the birth of Lord Ram, followed by an emotional exchange with Kaikeyi (Lara Dutta), who asks him to embrace exile.
Arun Govil’s Dashrath leaves a lasting impact as he watches his beloved son depart in heartbreak, while Sai Pallavi’s Sita beautifully embodies unwavering devotion, with glimpses of their wedding adding warmth to the emotionally charged trailer.
Rakul Preet Singh’s Surpanakha unexpectedly steals several moments, and her nose-cutting sequence effectively plants the seed for the war between good and evil.
The trailer also offers blink-and-miss appearances of Saurabh Sachdeva as Maricha, Vivek Oberoi in Surpanakha’s backstory, and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara. One of the standout moments is the spectacular aerial confrontation between Jatayu and Ravana aboard the Pushpak Vimana, culminating in a powerful closing shot of Ranbir’s Rama drawing and releasing his arrow.
Visually, the trailer is nothing short of breathtaking, with DNEG’s world-class VFX lending scale, realism and grandeur to every frame. Every landscape, battle sequence and mythical setting feels immersive and cinematic. Towering above it all is Yash, whose commanding screen presence and magnetic aura make Ravana both terrifying and captivating, ensuring he dominates every scene he appears in.
More about Ramayana
The film is made in two parts. While the first saga will be released in Diwali 2026, the sequel will release in Diwali 2027. While the trailer for the first part gave a glimpse of some prominent characters, the cast of the film is much bigger.
At the Comic Con event, director Nitesh Tiwari revealed that the audience would be curious to watch the second part. “Where we leave in part one is something you can call a cliffhanger, something which will make people want to watch part 2 the moment they leave the theatre.”
The much-anticipated trailer, which was originally expected to release on July 24, was postponed, leaving fans wondering about the new date. The decision was taken in wake of student protests that happened across India. However, the trailer was unveiled at a grand prathan Sankalp event in Delhi, where the cast expressed gratitude for being a part of the film.
