X-Men ’97 is a sequel to the classic X-Men: The Animated Series, which aired from 1992 to 1997, and also drew inspiration from the pages of Marvel Comics. Given the strong fan push for its return, this series will be one of the most memorable in recent history. Considering it ended on a cliffhanger in 1997, this revival is all about the sheer enthusiasm the creators and fans have for the series. To celebrate this series, Hasbro is offering a new wave of action figures with retro cardbacks. This wave includes Emma Frost, Morph, Jubilee, Cable, Sunspot, and Logan.

Jubilee and Sunspot are packaged in a retro-style blister card with an anime-style image of the character and the X-Men ’97 logo on the front, and an image of the figure and the rest of the wave look on the back.
Jubilee is back too. A character from the X-Men ’92 series with an updated costume as seen in the X-Men ’97 series. She wears a yellow trench coat, placed over her torso and made of soft plastic, with sleeves sculpted onto her arms. Underneath the trench coat, she wears an almost all-black outfit, with black gloves and boots, a silver zipper and a purple collar.
Her head sculpt is great, with the pink hue and circular earrings intact. She also has black sculpted hair, pink lips, painted eyes, and well-done facial details that pay great homage to her appearance in the series.
Includes 3 sets of interchangeable hands (neutral, right fist, left open grip on the cup), a cup with a straw, and a third set of hands includes effects to show off her mutant powers.
Her articulation includes a ball-jointed head, ball-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball-jointed torso, ball-jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged ankles, and rocker ankles.
Sunspot debuts in this series and is a new member of the X-Men until he temporarily leaves the group to join Magneto. He wears a black and yellow X-Men uniform with the X-Men logo on the belt buckle, a red belt, yellow gloves, and yellow boots.
His head sculpt closely resembles his appearance in the series, with brown skin, black hair, light brown lips, and beautifully done facial details.
Sunspot includes two sets of unalterable hands (closed fist and neutral with fingers sculpted apart) and two effect flames. One of these flames has a hole in the middle that you can hold by placing your closed-fisted hand inside, and the other can be placed in your hand by passing it through the fingers of your neutral hand. The flame is made of translucent red and yellow plastic.
His articulation includes a ball-jointed head and hinged neck, ball-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball-jointed torso, lower abdominal crunch, ball-jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged ankles, and rocker ankles.
Overall, Jubilee and Sunspot are both great figures that closely resemble the source material and are great additions to the line. Jubilee is my personal favorite and she returns in the series and is given a great sculpt. Be sure to pick up both figures today to add to your X-Men ’97 collection.
