What if A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms expanded beyond the Dunk & Egg novella? George RR Martin has a backup plan and shares the setting

It’s official – people are crazy about Knights of the Seven Kingdoms. The latest Game of Thrones spin-off, based on a series of novellas written by George R.R. Martin, has received rave reviews, especially from my friends at the Popverse Gang. The problem, however, is that if this series were based on a novella, it would end after three seasons, no matter how beloved it was by HBO viewers.

Unless of course someone has an idea how to keep it going.

Fittingly, that person appears to be Martin himself, and according to an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he has more than one idea for continuing the adventures of Dunk and Egg beyond the scope of their titular novel.

“The big problem is that I’ve only written three novels yet,” Martin tells THR. “And there are so many more stories in my head about dunks and eggs (…) I have to put them down on paper.”

But before that, Martin was strangely generous enough to share details of those ideas with fans.

“One is set in Winterfell and the other is set in the Riverlands,” he said.

Did you hear that, HBO? Maybe you need to bundle up your crew and send them out into the cold again. That is, if you’re interested in Knights of the Seven Kingdoms Season 4.

Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is currently streaming on HBO Max.
