    IGN can exclusively reveal that American Caper, the crime fiction comic series from the mind of Absurd Ventures’ Dan Houser, is getting a double-sized season finale issue #12 that will arrive on November 11, 2026.

    Houser and producer/contributing writer Lazlow stopped by IGN’s live show to share the big news on the “messy season conclusion” that will see the “end of our time in Wyoming.” The story is far from over, however, as Houser added that, “we are moving from a red state to a blue state for the next story arc that will begin in a few months after the end of issue 12.”

    “It’s a crescendo of chaos in the small town of Verona, Wyoming as Marty’s party turns into a family affair crashed by a slew of unwelcome guests,” Issue #12’s synopsis reads. “Orson admits some not so charming truths to Eliza. Marnie hunts down her husband hellbent on revenge. Eva faces off against the cartel assassin. And Dre BK keeps it calm and brings the namaste mid-firefight through copious amounts of hallucinations and yoga as the Verona chapter of American Caper comes to a very violent conclusion.”

    The double-sized issue from Absurd Ventures that is being published by Dark Horse Comics will feature 44 story pages, and there will be three covers you can see below;

    Cover A by Series Cover Artist Tyler Boss

    Variant Cover B by Becky Cloonan

    “I’ve been a huge fan of David Lapham’s for as long as I can remember–Stray Bullets was a formative read for me, a masterclass in storytelling and fearless characterization at a time when I was in my early years making comics,” Cloonan said. “Smash cut to last year, and he’s teamed up with Dan Houser and Lazlow, with Lee Loughridge on colors?? Gimme a break. That is a murderer’s row, and this book is unhinged in the best way possible. Of course I wanted to draw a cover!

    “Daniel Chabon is co-editing with Shelly Bond (who I worked with at Vertigo), so when it came time to brainstorm visual themes the team suggested something along the lines of my old Shade the Changing Girl covers. Now, okay, this book is maybe the anthesis to Shade, but it made a lot of sense: the colors, the surreal, almost absurdist vibe… I just leaned into that, and away I went.”

    Variant Cover C by Caroline Cash

    “I was thrilled when editor Shelly Bond reached out about this series. What a fun ride!! It’s not everyday that you read a story as fresh as this one, and it was a blast to contribute a variant cover for it,” Cash said.

    “It’s a variant cover to end all variant covers,” Bond added. “Who else would get the parallel of a gritty satire like American Caper with The Great Muppet Caper but the current epic cartoonist of Bushmiller’s Nancy strip?”

    If you are new to American Caper, which is from the mind of Houser, who was the co-founder of Rockstar Games and longtime head writer and creative director of the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption series, Absurd Ventures just released the first volume of the series, called Red-Pilled Blues, that gathers the series’ first four issues in one collection.
