Cybersecurity Conference delays U.S. launch, citing uncertain political climate

Organizers cite unpredictable political and economic conditions, and organizers postponed the first edition of the Incyber forum. The international cybersecurity conference is scheduled to be held at the Henry Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio from June 17 to 18. The event combines a trade show with a panel of experts and is expected to attract about 5,000 attendees from the global network industry.

“The current policy and economic environment remains challenging and unpredictable, and the decision to suspend the San Antonio meeting is consistent with similar decisions made by several other U.S. meetings,” said Fastforward, organizer of the event.

Visiting San Antonio took over a year to bring the event to the city.

San Antonio promotes U.S. cyber cities and builds a dense network of cybersecurity operations that supports the Department of Defense, business departments and local governments.

Local hotel leaders were disappointed by the delay of the decision.

Quick meeting outside the United States

“We understand the organization’s need to pause the inaugural event until the current uncertainty settlements. We have heard potential concerns from a handful of meeting groups that their attendance may be impacted by political and economic uncertainty, and we are diligently working with them to see how we may help them shore up their convention. We stand by to ramp back up with InCyber Forum for San Antonio when the time is right,” said Mario Bass, interim president and CEO of Visit San Antonio.

The Incyber Forum is launched in Lille, France and attracts 25,000 attendees each year in Europe.

FastForward confirmed its Montreal meeting will be held in October, followed by a Tokyo event.
