While voice actor Jim Cummings has expressed numerous roles in a remarkable career spanning nearly four decades, I think it’s safe to say that most fans associate him with Disney for good reason. If you watched Disney animated TV or animation features in the 90s, you have the chance to hear Cummings in any number of projects, regardless of whether it is Hyena in the movie masterpiece or not, you can have the potential to hear Cummings in any number of projects The Lion King Or the horror of slapping at night is also called the Blackwing Duck. There is no doubt that two characters he may have made a name for at Disney are Mickey Mouse and friends of Winnie the Pooh and Pete Pete Perenial Nemesis.
Cummings has been strong over the years. In the new faith-based film King of Kingsnow in the theater, Cummings plays multiple roles, including Pharisee Hillel, Dismas and James The Greater. Before the movie was released, we were happy to chat with Cummings not only King of Kings And heritage A stupid movie Celebrating its 30Th This year’s anniversary.
Taimur Dar: Given the long production time of animated feature films, I would love to assume that this is during lockdown. I’m curious if you recorded this in the studio or at home?
Jim Cummings: I went to the studio. Many of these were done before Covid. You always return at the end, do some loop or final cut whatever you need.
Taimur Dar: I know that most animated feature films record actors themselves, not ensemble recordings. That’s it King of Kings?
Jim Cummings: Correct. This is usually the case. This is not my preference. Because of the schedule, as you said, it is restricted. But this is not suffering, that’s for sure.
Q: I believe in Ray’s role Princess and Frog It’s one of your favorite characters. By the way, Rob Edwards wrote that movie and also participated King of Kings. Do you have a chance to connect during production?
Jim Cummings: This time we didn’t meet each other. But if he wrote it, I like being there.
Taimur Dar: As a voice actor, it’s easy to say that you have a close working relationship with different voice actors from numerous projects like Ginny McSwain and Andrea Romano. I will also include voice director Jamie Thomason King of Kings. How did collaboration with Thomason develop over time?
Jim Cummings: He is my old friend. Let’s go back. I believe that when I started the business, he was the same. Almost forty years ago, we met literally. He is a good person. We collaborate and blend together and blend with each other.
Taimur Dar: You play multiple roles in the movie. Have you played these roles from the beginning or are you considering other roles?
Jim Cummings: They asked me to audition and read different things. Then they place you where they think you will do the best. I’m very happy. I think my favorite [character] Jesus healed my blindness. I’ve said before that I used to be a transgender boy. Playing a role in this incredible project is like a dream
Q: Many actors often find themselves holled by pigeons. For example, since then breaking BadGiancarlo Esposito is the villain’s first choice actor. Obviously, you are no stranger to playing bad guys, but you have played a variety of different roles throughout your career. Have you ever felt hiding at any time in your voice-over career?
Jim Cummings: If I’m known, it means I’d love to play nice guys like Winnie the Pooh or the Dark Duck. Or really a bad guy like the Tasmanian devil. I can give you a few other villains, such as Pete the Cat Mickey Mouse Club Club. He is not a bad guy, but he certainly is not necessarily a good guy. He provides friction. This is really interesting to me. I love it all. If it were in me, I would do anything, they would hire me.
Taimur dar: Since you just mentioned Pete’s role, if I don’t discuss it A stupid movie. Absolutely back to the spirit of the times, largely because this year marks 30Th Anniversary A stupid movie and Just a stupid Record. Why do you think this movie still resonates decades later?
Jim Cummings: This is part of the partner movie, and it is also a father/son movie. It does span the entire leap. Everyone loves the good connection between father and son, especially in the lives of boys turning into young people and teenagers. There is rebellion and friction. At a certain age, you will always feel embarrassed about your parents. Can you imagine how embarrassed you would feel if your dad was literally called Goofy? Very good because they eventually made a connection. It’s very cute and exquisite. I think that’s why it’s been tested by time. If it resonates, sincerity and from the heart, it will continue. Obviously, this one has it.
Taimur Dar: What is this movie King of Kings What does it mean to you?
Jim Cummings: This is actually called the greatest story ever. As for what it means to me, it means everything. This is the story of the Son of God who came among us, showed us the way and gave our lives so that we could be saved. It is a great honor to participate.
Taimur Dar: Finally, do you want to insert any projects for our readers?
Jim Cummings: I do want to mention that I have a podcast Jim Cummings. I want to make sure everyone knows this. Please note the horror of the night slap!
