In VRChat, a wide variety of content is released day and night, from game worlds where you can play with friends to scenic worlds perfect for relaxing. In this series, we will pick out and introduce some of the most visually appealing worlds from the vast number of available worlds.

Today, we’ll be introducing “NOISE,” an endlessly expanding world of nighttime parking lots.

“NOISE” is a world created by creator and filmmaker ROKUMORI. ROKUMORI has been active in “VRChat” for some time and is known for creating worlds incorporating sci-fi and liminal space elements, such as “Ecology,” “PLASTIC LAB,” and “Labyrinth,” since around 2022.

“NOISE” is a liminal space-like world set in an endlessly vast parking lot. In fact, a world with the same name was released in 2021, and this world is a remake and re-release of the “old version”.

Upon entering the world, the player lands in the center of a massive parking lot. All around, 360 degrees, is the parking lot.

With no buildings or breaks in the landscape, it’s as if the entire world has been transformed into a parking lot. The streetlights, lined up at perfectly equal intervals, further emphasize the sterile, impersonal atmosphere.

I happened to look down and saw two cathode ray tube (CRT) monitors. One was just static, but the other was displaying cyberpunk-themed imagery.

The video incorporates a variety of visuals, and is fragmented, making it difficult to explain its content. However, it includes shots of shrine gates and what appears to be a corridor filled with numerous elevators, stimulating the imagination.

In this unusual parking lot, a large bus is “parked.” Its body is jet black, but light pours in through the windows, giving the impression that someone might be inside. I wanted to get closer and take a closer look, but unfortunately, boarding is not possible. What exactly this bus represents is up to the interpretation and interpretation of each visitor.

“NOISE” is a world with a simple design, yet it is packed with a rich, otherworldly, liminal space-like atmosphere. Personally, I was impressed by how it didn’t say much, leaving all the “judgment” to the viewer’s sensibilities. Incidentally, the 2022 version of “NOISE” mentioned earlier is still available as an archive. Those who are interested might find it interesting to compare the two versions and see what the differences are.

Why not visit “NOISE,” a parking lot filled with an intriguing atmosphere?
