The monster I most want to eat is…
    …not one!

—-Thank you all for your hard work Delicious food in the dungeoncongratulations on getting a second season!

Miyajima: Thank you. At first, I thought I would wait a while after the final episode in hopes that a second season would be greenlit. But later in the second half of production, the producer Kikushima article Come talk to me about season two. But we were in the middle of production at the time, so rather than being happy, it was more like, “Give me a break!” (laugh)but we made some quick adjustments to the final episode so that it would tie in with season two.

    ——So you changed the ending?

Miyajima: Yes. Going back to the initial stages of writing the script, we decided that the final scene would involve everyone having a meal together. We wanted to end it in a way that everyone else could pick up the story where we left off. However, if we were able to do a second season, then we’d want to continue it immediately.

—-Delicious food in the dungeon The first season has come to a successful conclusion and we have seen the emergence of many characters in the second half. Let’s take a look back at some of them, starting with Izumi who joined Leos’ team.

Miyajima: For Izumi, I wanted to portray her feline characteristics and make sure she wouldn’t succumb to Leos and the others. She was very mercurial – just when she seemed to be opening up to them, she would suddenly fly into a rage. I wanted her to be a free-spirited character. Actually the character designer Takeda Naoki He is also a cat owner, so when drawing Izumi’s movements, he would say: “A cat would do this.” Takeda found the part of her fur on her clothes from the original manga and put it into Chapter 21 set. come on think about it (laugh).

—-The Elf Canaries appeared in Episode 21, but it’s exciting to think that we’ll see them again in Season 2.

Miyajima: To be honest, I’m very grateful. There are still characters in The Canary Islands who only speak a sentence or two. We did a proper audition for each of them where we had the voice actors read lines from later scenes, so if there wasn’t a second season, then they might be like, “What was that going on?” I was really impressed. So glad we’re getting a second season.

What were your criteria for picking elves when auditioning?

Miyajima: When I first read the manga, to be honest, I didn’t even know what gender Mithrun or Lycion were supposed to be at first, so I asked the artist to give them a neutral feel. When it came time to audition, I wanted to keep the vibe of the original comic and how I felt when I first read the comic and was cast. Especially for Mithrun, I wanted a deep-throat sound.

—-How did you negotiate with the original work?

Miyajima: I asked the original manga artist many times Kui Liangzi herself, but Delicious food in the dungeon World Guide: The Adventurer’s Bible Also helped me a lot. When production first started I heard they were going to release Adventurer’s BibleI knew I wanted it no matter what. The height and gender of the elves are listed above, which is very valuable for reference.

——The animation has reached this stage, who do you think the original animator is? Kui LiangziWhat is the greatest strength?

Miyajima: Her portrayal of the characters and her ideas for the monsters are of course excellent, but the plot is also fantastic. It’s truly amazing how succinctly she pieced this story together from beginning to end over the course of nine or so years. I think comics have a habit of changing with the times or depending on circumstances during serialization, but from what I’ve heard from Kui herself, she ended the story the way she wanted from the beginning. I think she’s an incredible writer because she doesn’t leave anything out.

—-In the 24 episodes of the anime, you’ve drawn over 40 different monster meals and dishes, but which one is your favorite?

    Miyajima: None!

    ——Wow, no! Really?

Miyajima: A lot of staff work together to make sure the monster meal looks as delicious as possible, but in real life you can’t even get a bite. This makes me a little frustrated. Still, if I went into a dungeon and saw a real life monster in front of me… I don’t think I could bring myself to eat it. I mean, you have to kill the monster in front of you.

    —-Better…

Miyajima: When I think about it like this, I can’t help but think that Leos is a very incredible person. My heart goes out to Kabulu and Marciel. Leos volunteered to eat the monster meal, so I have to hand it to him for doing such a crazy thing.

—-you’re right. you ask Kentaro KumagaiAs Raios, he was told not to read manga volume 13 or 14 before recording for the anime, and it seems he hasn’t done that yet. Even though production for Season 2 has now been greenlit, will those production numbers be limited?

Miyajima: Yes. I hope he gets to act out the second half of the story because he’s seeing it all for the first time, so I hope he’s able to watch the end of the manga for a while longer.

—-What are the current plans for the second season?

Miyajima: I have to think about this from now on. We just finished filming season one and now we’re filming season two, so I can’t relax. It felt like I was going from one thing to another instantly.

—-Did your team see a lot of growth during the production of the first season?

Miyajima: Honestly, everyone is incredible. The young members of TRIGGER have all grown up, and the animation team is also very comprehensive. Everyone in the production team is responsible for storyboarding. I think this is awesome.

—-How would you describe the three years you have spent? Delicious food in the dungeon Season 1?

Miyajima: If it ended like this, I would probably say “Those were three years of very beautiful memories,” but since there is still more to do, I feel like the past three years have passed by in the blink of an eye. This is my first time directing a series and it’s something I love, so I’m really giving it my all, as are all the crew. We will continue to go all out and move forward courageously!
