- Shinkansen, one of Japan’s most watched theater companies, announced that the final performance of its latest production “BASARAO” will be broadcast live in five overseas countries: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and Singapore!
- BASARAO is a picaresque drama with an all-star cast, set during the Nanbokucho period in Japan. The story follows a man who uses his stunning beauty to rise to power. The rapidly unfolding story of betrayal and counter-treachery, coupled with Theater Company Shinkansen’s signature blend of high-energy sword fighting, music and dance, electrified audiences, selling out every night and receiving standing ovations at every performance.
- The script was written by resident playwright Kazuki Nakajima, known for his theater and animation work. Most recently, Nakajima has been receiving attention for his performance in the upcoming animated film Batman Ninja vs. the Yakuza (Warner Bros. Japan), where he brings his signature talent for entertainment to the unpredictable, twist-filled in the story.
- The show is directed by troupe Shinkansen captain Hidenori Inoue, who uses concert-style lighting and rock music to create a stunning world that will leave audiences in awe. The cast is led by Toma Ikuta and Tomoya Nakamura, and is complemented by a group of top Japanese actors known for their talent and popularity.
