Blizzard is about to roll out a spam-avoiding version of your Diablo 4: Ship of Hate, so enjoy it while it’s still available

The Ships of Hate expansion pack for Diablo 4 has been well received by players and fans. Much of this love can be attributed to Blizzard’s design for the new Spiritborn class, but the new story chapters, major exploration areas, and new end-game activities like raids have all won over many in the gaming community.

However, as with every new version/season, the meta continues to evolve, creating strong end-game builds for Diablo 4’s classes, and some (as expected) will be broken. This is the Eldar’s first foray into the world, which means the class will soon be tweaking its first Shattered build.

The Spiritborn build in question isn’t broken by the amount of damage it does in combat (although it’s very powerful). No, the weakening hammer will fall on this one because its main hook utilizes the avoidance mechanic.

You won’t find this specific build on our list of recommended Spiritborn builds above, but it’s easy to find online. You may have even seen it used by multiple content creators, especially those speedrunning content.

One of the next big updates for the game, likely version 2.0.3 due out later this week, will nerf Spiritborn builds that rely on casting dodge and exploit animations. What’s the reason? These builds rely on bugs and ruin the experience for nearby players.

“This is a bug because Spiritborn is able to instantly destroy animation frames during escape,” community lead Adam Fletcher explained on Twitter. “We’re going to fix this so you won’t be able to instantly evade in another game, but instead it’ll be normalized to the standard evasion cast rate in all situations.”

Respect the gods and stop spamming Evade! | Image source: Blizzard Entertainment.

Fletcher added that part of the reason developers are doing this also has to do with the building’s impact on players in the same neighborhood. Reaction to the news on the Diablo 4 subreddit was mixed, but veteran players knew the news would hit sooner or later, especially considering the lag it caused.

After the Season 1 nerf wave that occurred on the eve of Diablo 4’s release angered most players, Blizzard has vowed to nerf popular builds with ease and not be as conservative as possible in the area. The only exception, however, is that a build will break the player’s game no matter how powerful it is.
